cutting and splitting recorded audio track

Everytime i try to cutt and or split a recorded loop it cuts itself in half and repeats. I am trying to cut the audio recording so that the loop starts and stops when the voice cuts in and out. I have also tried to use the music editor and the same thing is happening. The first bar repeats and the rest has been lost. I am using edition magix music maker live 2016

Did you set the recording up as a loop ie did you select Edit, Object, Loop range, Insert user-defined loop ?

If so remove the loop range by selecting Edit, Object, Loop range, Remove user-defined loop before making any edits to the loop.
