Dark/black objects have no detail/clarity.

I'm having issues with dark scenes on Magix, I simly cannot get them to look good no matter what settings/effects I choose. I definitely need it to be MPEG-4 Stremable.

I had another topic but it has a few answers which may lead one to think, this has been figured out. Sadly it has not been figured out yet. We have tried to use msharpen and a few other effects but nothing helps.

I also uploaded a clip of the 2nd set of screen shots so if you wnated to try your self you can. Here is a link:

Use the one file named Main MP4 test - http://dropcanvas.com/7i4vj

Note: If you don't convert from start and convert right where that scene begins you will get much better results. Which makes me believe that this is a quality issue. Nero may just be doing qulaty based converting while Magix is doing constant (despite choosing VBR)

Look at the brick areas around where I circled and you will see one had very little to no detail (Both 1700 kbps 2-pass)

Both The foollowing are  4800 kbps 2-pass, look around the clothes outlines and you will see the same. Its blended to where they are almost not seen! On Nero however, you will see its much better.

Hi,

Where the problem comes from? May be you activate image stabilization mode in your camera and you have three position 1) Highly activate, 2) Medium or normal activate 3) No image stabilization. You obtain a poor image quality the image is fuzzy or blur. The only function you can apply is sharpness you lack definition and nothing can be done to correct this. Check your camera manual and camera setup when you shot another video to avoid this. Naturally you can try to push on picture quality, bit rate some software give more quality but in your case the image is bad and you try to find a solution playing with parameters.

Sorry...

Regards,

You raised this two weeks ago, so why are you duplicating the thread?

Have you submitted a ticketed support request?

Hi bassam

Looks like you did not get my PM to continue in the same thread.

I have experimented with the file you have uploaded and while I can increase the sharpeness considerably using the msharpen plugin **  there has to be a compromise with video bitrate and file size.

On export if I keep the original video bitrate of 9588 kbps there is a good improvement compared to the original,  at 6000 kbps there is a small loss of detail, however at 4000 kbps there is greater loss of detail and by 1700 kbps there is significent loss of detail as you have found.

This is not a surprising result because the level of detail is controlled by the bitrate - the higher the bitrate the more information per frame to generate the image - thus giving a sharper / more detailed image.

As an example - Youtube recommended settings for 720p are:-  video 5000kbps, audio 512 kbps (stereo) which, IMHO, is a good compromise.

** - I changed the settings to - strength  255,  threshold  0

So MagiX support responded to me telling me that this is a drawback of the encoder & nothing can be done unti lthey push through an update for Intel codecs for MPEG4..

They also told me that this was in their Video Edit Pro X6 software, so I tried it and there is a good differance on the quality.. I did also use sharpen to help the clarity but the detail is there at leats now.. Could still eb a bit better, but deifnitely a step up from MainConcept... Here is a screen shot:
