Database Problem

I have had MP3 Maker 12 for years now (and other Magix systems prior to that) but started having problems with it starting for a while so I figured it was time to update as it may not be good in the current Windows 10, so I bought MP3 Deluxe 19. When installing it stated there was an error in the Magix Database. It updated to the newest version automatically (which I thought would help - it didn't). I can access music files directly but cannot do anything with the database (create). I did find the help section supposedly for this fix (https://www.magix.info/us/support/article/how-to-fix-the-message-error-in-the-magix-database--67/) and followed the steps (to no avail). Specifically:

1. Check your antivirus software

High Security Levels can prevent files from being accessed.
Add the software and the application "Firebird SQL Server" as "exclusions" to your antivirus program, or lower your Antivirus security level.

I couldn't add it as Windows 10 lists the programs you can add/remove and Firebird SQL Server is not listed

2. After restarting your PC, reinstall the MAGIX Firebird database (link followed)

I tried reinstalling but got an error message that the database could not be accessed and it reversed itself back out without installing.

3. Enable the service "Fabs.exe"

I did but it didn't help

What next?

@Brazil-Bill

Welcome to the Magix forums.

This sounds rather like the problem of Windows 10 and Protected Folders. Do you run Windows Defender as your antivirus? If so, please read this thread. The first reply tells you how to turn this Windows "feature" off.
