@Tracy-Pruss

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

Which version of Movie Studio do you have? A very quick read of this page suggests they are designed for Vegas 19, which is now a different product to either Movie Studio 18 or Movie Studio 2022. If you have either of these versions I strongly suspect that, No, the Movie Expansion Pack will NOT work them. OTOH, at least some of the constituents of the pack have been found to work , partially at least, within Video Pro X (the "professional" version of Magix Movie Studio) I believe (specifically NB Titler Pro 7 and NB Transitions).

Perhaps to explain a little more (in case you are not aware); Movie Studio versions up to and including version 17 were part of the Magix Vegas range of products. Some time ago Magix decided to discontinue Vegas Movie Studio and introduce Magix Movie Studio. This software is based entirely on the product formerly known as Magix Movie Edit Pro, so, as far as Movie Studio users are concerned, a "brand new" product. Just to be slightly more confusing, perhaps, Magix also decided that the "new" Movie Studio and Movie Edit Pro should henceforward be named Magix Movie Studio!

@Tracy-Pruss, I agree wtih what @emmrecs is saying. I "think" you are referring to Vegas and not Movie Studio.

As for the products in that expansion pack working within MS/VPX, it will be "hit or miss" if they do, and sometimes they will not work fully.

I have Boris Continuum Complete 2022. Trying to use Particle causes MEP2022 to become unresponsive.

Film Style Unit, some work, others will crash MEP causing you to use Task Manager to end the program.

Image Restoration doesn't show all the plugins in that unit.

OFX implementation in MEP2022 isn't there... yet. Maybe it's more present in VPX14. I don't know, I only have VPX12 and it's 'hit or miss' there too. The FX Browser in Boris sometimes works, other times does not. All those sliders might work, but a lot of the work with Boris can happen in their FX Browser.

Screenshot below is BCC+ Film Stock, which is a part of the Film Style Unit. You need to be able to access the FX Browser to see these selections and to be able to adjust. Vegas Pro supports OFX plugins.

@Reyfox

Hi.

Some OFX plugins can work fully within MEP and VPX, it's just except on the most powerful of machines the plugins grind the programs to an almost halt. I use some OFX plugins within MEP 2022 and they worked in MEP 2021 as well.

@CubeAce which particular OFX plugins work in MEP2022?

I've many OFX plugins from different vendors, but find that most either struggle (and my machine is not a basic machine), work partially, or don't work at all. The OP was interested in the Movie Expansion Pack that is offered for Vegas. The OP didn't state if they were interested in them working in VPX/MEP or Vegas. We know how a lot of people confuse the user forums!

I hope in the future that MEP/VPX/MS leverage OFX better. It will open the doors to a lot of plugins.

@Reyfox

I think it's the other way around. Open Effects OFX is open source programming very much in its infancy and different developers are still going their separate ways as things tend to go with any open source software.

Hopefully, as you say, one day they may get their plugins to be more efficient and able to blend in to other programs more easily. The New Blue Total FX package is an OFX based suite, so may be.

OFX has been around in some form since 2004. But developers will be developers doing their own thing. OFX plugins from BorisFX (including Sapphire), NBFX, and FXHome Ignite Pro 5 work across several of the editors I use without a problem. Some other ones work in one or two, but not others. And while MEP and VPX12 will show several of them, the trouble is in using them. I don't have VPX14 so can't comment, but again, support for OFX can only benefit the software, especially if in the case of VPX, it is considered to be a pro level editor.

The NBFX TFX7 package for Magix removes a couple of the plugins for some reason, like transitions, and stabilizer... I scratch my head on this one.
