Hi

. . . . How do I drop files on to the time line and have them fall at the end of the already edited video? . . . .

Position the timeline cursor at the point where you want the next file to be and drag it to the timeline.

I keep doing that but it still places the file at the beginning of the time line.

Hi

. . . . Movie Edit Pro 2016 Premium Version 15.0.0.90 . . .

You are missing several patches - the last version was 15.0.0.114 - try updating the program - Help, Online update first then try adding to the timeline again.

I am now running version 15.0.0.114 and the same issue is still happening. No matter where I place the orange timeline cursor it keeps dropping the video files at the very beginning of the timeline.

Hi,

Did you try doing a new project? If not, try importing a few clips into a new project to see if the problem is related or not to the project.

Are you dragging from Windows Explorer or from the media pool in MEP? If from the media pool, then click on the clip that you want to import and press on 1 on the keyboard (not the keypad).

Yes I am doing a new project and I have now found out by dragging and dropping files from the desktop, it places them at the start of the timeline but if I upload through MEP by clicking the ↓ icon it adds the file to the end of the other files which is what I was after.

Something new to get use to but at least I can now do it 🙂

Thanks for the help guys 👍

Interesting - when I do this they are placed where I drop them irrespective of the timeline cursor location.

However it is good that you have found the cause.

There is one small part of your comment which is not good practice, and that is keeping files, and folders containing files, on the desktop. The Desktop is not a protected folder and if for any reason your computer does a System restore on boot up, which it could do and give you no warning if it has a problem reading the last saved settings on shutdown, or you have to do a system restore, then you could lose files that were added after the restore point reverted to. I have seen this happen too often.

The Documents folder is a protected folder and is where all user files and folders should be located.

Thanks for making me aware of that. Luckily ive not had any issues with system restores and I only place video files off SD cards to the desktop while I edit a video. Once the video has rendered I delete all the files and only keep the final version.

Good to know for future reference though 👍
