This problem is almost invariably caused by the fact that your sound card audio Sample Rate is set to something different to what MEP expects. MEP will normally expect your audio to be 48kHz 16 bit, but it is possible that the video file you are wanting to edit has a different sample frequency, perhaps 44.1kHz.

So you need to check the audio sample rate set in MEP, your sound card and your video file. All three need to be the same.
