HakanHiko wrote on 3/9/2020, 4:15 AM

I got problem with this software on both win 7 and win 10 with two different dv cameras. Both of the computers have Firewire 1394 contacts and they are working as they should. First time i tryed to import after the program is installed then it worked one time and the device information wasnt the camcorders name instead it showed Microsoft Dv unit in the "select DV device driver" the second time i try to record the problem starts, in the"select DV device driver" show s the correct camcorder name but i get a error In "Magix Caputure Moduel" that says "Could not connect to selected device" I dont no what do, i rember that i prompt on som information about it is not the right size of something and if that is wrong some function does stopp in the program after first try? What should i look for? I have tryed to rest the program settings but that doesnt help anything?

@HakanHiko

Welcome to the Magix forums.

I import DVD footage via firewire from various DV cameras quite regularly, and that Driver information screen always shows "Microsoft DV device" and not the camera/device name.

Try setting yours to that Microsoft option and see what happens.

@emmrecs Thank you for your input but i am sorry that is not going to help me because when you start the record module manuell or automatic there is no way that you are given any possibility to change because the error message is blocking all the functions on the record module and when you say ok to the error message the record module closes, then we are back to the begin again:(.

@HakanHiko

Can you confirm exactly which IEEE 1394 (Firewire) driver you are using on your computer? I use the Windows "Legacy" driver for both my firewire ports and have no problem. See the attached screenshot below, which is of the Device Manager on my computer, highlighting the installed drivers for my FW ports.

Can you provide a similar screenshot from your computer? In Win 10, if you right-click on the Start icon you will see a series of options, one of which is Device Manager. Click on it and, once open, click on the "IEEE 1394 Host controllers" entry to show which driver you are using. (I can't remember how you access Device Manager in Win 7, sorry, because it's so long since I used that OS.)

@emmrecs Check that to, it is the Legacy driver in both computers, done that :) I am right now testning to see if i chose "DV" with mpeg instead of "HDV" se if that works out, have reinstalled again and start from schratch

HakanHiko wrote on 3/9/2020, 10:42 AM

@emmrecs Right now the solution that works is "DV" with mpeg, on both computers, but i dont now for how long:) there it shows correct dv camrecord i the dropdown list on the win 10 and " Microsoft Dv camcorder and DVR" on the win 7,there is no good explantion for this right now. Thanks for all help!

Hi

. . . . two different dv cameras . . . DV with mpeg . . . . HDV" . . . . there is no good explantion for this right now . . . .

Assuming your 2 cameras are DV cameras and not HDV, then the most likely explanation why the HDV setting does not work is because it is not seeing a HDV camera connected.

'DV with mpeg' is the correct setting for DV cameras.

Hi

i rember that i prompt on som information about it is not the right size of something and if that is wrong some function does stopp in the program after first try?

In line with what @johnebaker has said - that prompt is probably warning you that the resolution (size) is incorrect for HDV capture. Most HDV cameras can be set to DV resolution for recording if required, which may have happened or the tape you are trying to capture may have some previous DV material on it as well, which is confusing the camera or capture.

After much research the problem is resolved, one of the cameras was only DV and the second is HDV and the material in the tapes is mixed sometimes and sometimes is only DV or HDV and because that the program gets confused and prompt error that is not presented in the correct way, so now i now what the problem is to get it right.(The tapes and the camcorders is my fathers and there is no information on the tapes with which machine they are recorded thereby the puzzle to get it right) Thanks all for your inputs
