Hi

We need more information.

  1. What is the full name and version number of MEP as found under Help, About . . . ?

  2. What software are you using to play them on the PC?

  3. Have you changed disc brand ?

  4. Are you using good quality branded discs?

Please read this topic and come back with any other information which may be relevant.

Hi

. . . . not on his TV, but fine on his PC . . . .

Can you explain step by step and which options you select for burning the disc once you have completed the video on the timeline.

OK

1. switched to interface for burning upper left corner

2. click burn button

3. DVD player option

4. click burn button

5. dialog box with VTS_01)1.vob Should the existing file be used for the film ...?

Two check off options left blank = Rewrite chapter menu and menu information (unchecked)

& = Rewrite film menus and navigation structures

Choosed "Use all" action on dialog box.

Hi

Thanks for the information.

I think the disc menu structure or information is suspect.

Try the burn again and select the following options when asked:

  • Encode all
  • Rewrite chapter menu and menu information - checked
  • Rewrite film menus and navigation structures - checked

This will refresh everything.

Tip: -

If you are not doing so use rewriteable DVD-RW or BD-RE discs to burn to, if there are any issues then you can re-use the discs and save having to find a use for the coasters.

Once the movie and disc are fine, copy it to DVD-R or BD-R for a permanent disc.

Will do. I'll let you know how it turns out tomorrow.

 Thank you John

John,

The default menu and navigation structure encode all approached made no difference.  Still could not read the DVD on TV.

Good News however, I notice the Magix program had assigned the "DVD Title" to be the same as one of my earlier "project names".   That project name was very long with the date 05-30-17 at the end.   I shortened the DVD Title and removed the date.   The program then no longer offered me the Dialog box with the option to rewrite chapter menu.  Instead it went straight to the burning process.  And when finished the DVD was readable and perfect on TV as well as PC.

Hope this helps Magix put in place some restrictions and warnings on DVD default Title structure.

Hi

. . . . That project name was very long with the date 05-30-17 at the end . . .

For file naming you have up to 255 characters available, however certain characters are disallowed eg @ ' " etc.

If you compare the DVD titles with the file names of the old project and the new, I suspect you will see that there is a character, possibly a space or symbol, at the same position and this where the break is occurring.

However it is good news that you are getting good discs again

Happy editing.
