Editing CCTV footage

Hi All

I need to shorten some footage from my Swann CCTV but when I try to put the footage which is MP4 into MEP it wont do it. I keep getting the message "Please make sure the drive is not full or write-protected" Error 0x1009: end of file reached.

I know the drive is not full and the footage plays on Windows media centre so it must be protected. Does anybody know how to remove the protection.

Thanks

Grahame

Hi

CCTV footage is often in a bespoke format which requires exporting from the CCTV recorder (software).

Did you use the transcode option of the Swann CCTV software to export the footage to the mp4 file format?

If not, you need to do this.

If you did use the transcode function - then use MediaInfo to analyse the video file and post the results from the Tree view in MediaInfo - this will tell us what format the video file is encoded in and what parameters were used.

Note: if the video is required as legal evidence, or potentially used as such, then the video should not be edited.
