Editing the DVD Menu (buttons, text, animations and Magix Extreme Photo Designer)

Application: Movie Edit Pro 2013

On my DVD menu i am missing the "In Aranger" and + - buttons to add new buttons and text. The templates are set in stone and each time i try to edit it messes every page up.

"in an external editor" button askes me to download MAGIX Xtreme Photo Designer but MAGIX Photo Designer 7 is the only download and will not allow me to connect from the Burn page.

How can i create my own Animated Menu? Using Flash or creating a movie?

Finally, i want to buy the "Video editing made simple with Movie Edit Pro (Book)" but the information given is minimal.

Does the book come with project files?

Is it more than 2 Chapters long?

Although this will be listed as an 'answer,' it is not. It's an addition.

I'm using Photostory Deluxe DVD 2013, and am having the same trouble editing menu templates. In fact, I'm having trouble finding most of them! I downloaded all the "free" online content, yet no new menu templates appear in the menu editor. I've emailed Support and the only answer I got was "they should be there." Well, they aren't.

On top of that, some of the original templates don't even show up in the editor when I load certain projects. In some projects they are there; in others, they are not there. Very frustrating!

Add to that the fact many of the templates have very few editible elements, and some none at all. For example, the 'Flowers' template shows a picture frame next to a cake. The menu editor automatically inserts an image from the slideshow into that frame. Most of the time the photo it picks doest not fit the frame at all and the program doesn't adjust it.  And there is absolutely no way for the user to change that image. You're stuck with it or you can't use that template. Other templates have the same problem.

And then there's the fact you can't even edit the text on some of the buttons. In the Flowers template, most of the button text are bitmaps and can't be edited or replaced. And the damned text is in German! That makes the whole thing worthless to me.

I finally gave up and tried exporting to Photoshop and editing there. Following Magix's instructions to the letter, I made ONE simple change and re-saved it. But when I tried to import it back into the editor, the program froze completely! Not only was my Photoshop work wasted, but all changes I had made to the slideshow itself were lost. I had to re-load an "automatic backup," which did not include the changes I'd made after my last save.

There are many more problems with the menu editor and burner. And even more on the slideshow side of the program. But the biggest problem I think is the manual. It's awful ... extremely convoluted, hard to understand, and full of errors. It took me hours to learn just how to control a simple transition. And I still don't have it down perfectly.

This may sound like a rant, but it isn't really. I'm hoping to actually get some help here! I couldn't get it from Magix tech support, so this is my last hope!  If anyone reads these messages—and can provide some help or advice—please do!

Sorry Josh, I didn't mean to hijack your thread; but maybe someone can help here. Or at least point us in the right direction. We surely won't get it from Magix.
