Effect on the Video ?

nirvanray wrote on 3/6/2015, 12:14 AM

Hello friends,
I was checking some adverts when I came across an interesting look. Though it is common and we see them frequently, can someone kindly suggest how this is achieved? Ca the same be achieved in post ? The whole video has a strange light effect (I dont know what to call)

Pardon me if I am mistaken......but my knowledge says either of the following points through which this was achieved. Please suggest.

Will be thankful if some examples (or links) are also attached with the answer.

My observations are:
1. Perhaps use of 50mm lens
2. Perhaps lens-whacking
3. Perhaps back-lighting

Regrds.

Hi Anirban

The effects I see applied to this clip are:-

Video effects, Speed effect - a slight slow down on some of the segments

Video effects, Colour, Saturation - a slight reduction in level.

Focus pulling - eg in the close up pen shot

The rest is different shooting angles, shooting through glass windows, out of focus side elements eg shooting through a door with the door frame close and out of focus.

Some good cutting with use of cuts and crossfades.

Hi Anirban

I have just looked at your Muscat Festival video in Show and Discuss.

It looks like you already are using the required techniques as in the video above.
