Error -24

So I got the Movie Edit Pro 2013 and whenever i try to place a video down it asks," In order to use the 'MPEG-4 Basic' function, a one-time activation is required. Would you like to activate now?" and I chose Online, and put in the email and serial number, but then it says the serial number is on another email and it gives me the error -24. I'm confused on what I do in order to use the editor.

Hi, welcome to the Magix forums.

First, please read this post and give us ALL the information listed there. Without it, we have no details about your computer, software or similar.

Are you attempting to use MEP 2013 (which variant, btw, Basic, Plus or Premium?) under a current version of Win 10? If so, I suspect it may be incompatible.

When you say you

put in the email and serial number

where do you get this information from?

I think that error code may simply be telling you that your computer cannot contact the Magix server for authorisation; are you connected to the internet when you attempt the procedure? Is your firewall, even the installed Windows one, possibly preventing the connection?

Error code -24 usually means the serial number has already been registered to another email address.

Does this mean:

You have just bought the software and installed it?

If so was the software pre-owned?
Did you register the software with a different email address and have since changed it?

If no to both then you need contact Magix - however as your MEP is an old version it out of its support period, there may be a charge for this.
