Error code -6? Program won't open.

Just tried to open my editing program today and got this error message: 'This program could not be started. It is possible that the installation folder is damaged. Reinstalling the program could remedy the problem. If the error occurs again, please contact support. Error code: -6'

Any ideas? I tried contacting technical support like the error message said. But it says I have to pay $14 bucks for a support coupon? WTF?! I paid close to $150 for this program! And now they want me to pay more money when their program doesn't work correctly!?

Hello.

First, please read this post http://www.magix.info/uk/please-do-the-following-before-posting-your-question.forum.621831.html, give us the information asked for and then we MAY be able to suggest a possible reason.

Have you tried doing what the error message suggests and reinstalling?

Jeff

Okay, my program is Movie Edit Pro MX Premuim download version. I have downloaded all the extras (Which I use) and have tried unsuccsessfully to get the plugins to work. The computer I am using is windows 7 64 bit (I know thats a little vague, but the guidlines given in the link don't specify exactly what I am suppose to tell you)

I haven't because from what I've read I won't be able to reactivate the programs features afterwards.

Thank you.  That is much more helpful!

One thing in your description jumps out at me; the fact you have "tried unsuccessfully to get the plugins to work".  That, and the message about reinstalling, strongly suggests a faulty installation.  I too have MEP MX Premium (Download version) and do not have any of these problems.  So, I suggest you first do the Repair/Reinstall; run the downloaded .exe file and it should ask you whether you want to Uninstall or Repair your installation.  Clearly, choose Repair.

That MAY work.  Even if the program asks for this you can easily re-activate; assuming you have not tried to repair/reinstall before, re-activation is perfectly possible.  On some occasions I have needed to re-activate MAGIX products 3 and 4 times, without problem.

However, the easiest route to resolving your problem might well be a total uninstall (I always recommend using Revo Uninstaller because the uninstall via Windows Control Panel or the MEP .exe file does not remove everything) and then reinstall the program, extras etc., and re-activate.  It IS a hassle having to do all this but, on several occasions with various MAGIX products, I have found it resolves all previous difficulties.

If, perchance, you have installed/activated MEP MX several times already you may need to contact MAGIX SALES and ask them to reset your information on their activation server.

There could be problems with system settings, Java versions installed on your machine. Check your system settings first. If no problems are found, check which versions of Java are installed. Keep only latest version and uninstall earlier version. For more diagnostic solutions click here.
