Hi, welcome to the Magix forums.

First, have you seen this tutorial on the correct procedure for uninstalling and reinstalling Magix products? Unless you follow it exactly it is almost certain that the reinstall will not effect any change.

Second, I strongly suspect the error message indicates your project file is corrupted. Do you have any automatically created back-ups? I'm pretty certain that MEP 2016 creates back-ups by default.

Finally, please tell us the exact program name and version number, available under Help>About.

Just make sure you save any back-up files that MEP has created for your project; they will normally have a .BAK file extension. I would suggest moving the folder they are in to somewhere safe, e.g your desktop. Then, if there is a saved backup of your project it MAY be possible to at least partially restore your work.

I don't have MEP 2016 on this computer but I wonder whether that version is the latest? Hopefully, one of the other members of this forum who also has MEP 2016 will be able to confirm whether version 15.0.0.90 is the latest.

I don't just have them in one place...

Is this a problem?

If you're saying you have .BAK files in a variety of locations (I'm not sure that would or could be the case) then yes, I would move them all to a different location than Magix originally stored them; then removing all traces of the program will keep those files, which might include a version of your project that is "almost" the most recent and still usable, "safe".

Once you have fully reinstalled MEP you can then find out, by trial and error, whether you do have a backup of your project. If you do, once you are satisfied that you are able to successfully open the most recent version available, you should immediately resave it under a new project name. Having done this you then have the option to delete all those files you moved at the beginning of the uninstall/reinstall process, so saving disk space.

Hi

. . . . magix movie edit pro 2016, version 15.0.0.90 (UDP3) . . . .

You are missing the last patch for MEP 2016 which is version no 15.0.0.107.

. . . . I don't just have them in one place... . . .

I would guess like me you have different folders for different projects, this does mean that the BAK files are not in one place but are located in the same folder as where the MVP file is saved.

By default your projects should be in Documents\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro 2016 or any sub folders you have created within this location, unless you have changed the project folder location to somewhere else eg a second hard drive.
