@jmc

You go about it completely wrong.

Open (Start) PhotoStory,

Then open the project backup file. This way you ensure you open the file in the correct program.
Alternatively, right-click on the project backup file (as shown in your screenshot), choose Open with... and select Other options> More Apps> scroll down to the bottom and choose "Look for another app on this PC". Now locate the EXE file of PhotoStory (Check in %PROGRAMFILES%\MAGIX\Photostory Deluxe\) and select this.

Hi

Do note that the BAK files will not appear in the Load project dialog until you change the file type option, circled, as shown below

Perfect, a combination of your comments worked! I really appreciate you two's and emmrec's time and efforts to teach me how to work with PS 2021. I wasn't looking forward to reconstructing that whole project.

I've got 2 more way easier questions. The first is when I go into SS Maker and select Don't use any Effects, I always end up with 5 or 10 percent of the slides having effects. I have to go in and manually remove each Effect I don't want. Why do Effects take priority over Don't Use Any Effects and am I doing something wrong?

The second question is that a lot of my Titles run over into the next slide. I add all my Titles in Timeline Mode, but I don't always have the option to reduce the time of the Title Object. Sometimes if I max the time of the slide, the option to narrow, reduce the time of Title Objects appears and I can get the Title restricted to the intended slide. Then I reduce the slide back to the desired time and eventually everything is ok. Right now I spend more that half the time on a project messing with titles. It seems like the developers need to put a restriction on title times vs slide times to eliminate this problem together. Am I doing something wrong and do you have any suggestions?

Thanks again for the tutoring I really appreciate it,

jmc

@jmc

Delighted to hear the main problem is now resolved for you!

Your first easier question: at least one other user has reported this problem so it seems there might be a "bug" in the program! I would suggest opening a support ticket with Magix to report this.

You say you are adding all my titles in Timeline Mode. Is it titles only? If so, inevitable question: why are you not creating the whole show in that mode??? It is much "easier" because every element appears in front of you and can be manipulated on-screen, including your Title lengths! In timeline mode, each slide/image will appear as a "box" and occupy a horizontal "space" equivalent to its duration. Creating a title object on a different track, usually track 2, will also create a similar "box". If you click and hold on the right-hand edge of that box, you can drag the edge left (= shorter duration of the title) or right (= longer duration of the title). No need to set any times manually, simply drag the box/title object to be the length you want it to be.

BTW, you can do exactly the same thing with any object anywhere on the timeline, with the possible exception of any video or audio content you are using.

Jeff

EDIT: to add that you may find that you need to zoom in on the image or title object you wish to lengthen or shorten in order to make it more "visible" and accessible.

Zooming in in timeline mode took care of the title problem! I don't have a voucher number, so I can't get a ticket. I registered PS 2021 when I got it a few weeks ago and I wouldn't be able to get on this forum without registering. I don't know what the problem is?

Thanks for the help Jeff!

Hi

. . . . I registered PS 2021 when I got it a few weeks ago . . .

You should not need a voucher for Support - on the page @emmrecs linked to did you login with the same email address and password as you registered the software with?

Thanks, it worked! I'm not sure why going thru the Magix home page doesn't think I'm registered and my product is to old for free vouchers. Oh well, as long as everything works it's a no-never mind!

Thanks again,
