Error when importing AVI files

Hello,

Maybe this question has been asked before. I have a new computer and installed MEP 2014 Plus. When I try to import an AVI file, there appears an error saying "MEP encountered an error and will now close". It doesn't happen with other file formats, only with AVI files.

Has anybody else encountered this, and found a solution? It is really frustrating.

Thank you in advance.

Hi

I am guessing you have Windows 8 - can you play the AVI in Windows Media player or does it error?

If it errors see this article

If it plays OK then use a prgogram such as GSpot or MediaInfo to analyse one of AVI clips to find out what codecs are required.

GSpot is the better program to use as this will also tell you if the codecs required are installed and if the video can be rendered when you click the nimbered buttons under MS/AV bottom left of the GSpot window.

Hi John,

Thanks! I have Windows 8 on this computer, but the same thing happened in the previous one with 7. The videos play well in Windows Media Player, so I will try Gspot.

The files are animations made with 3D software, I guess it uses a codec not compatible with MEP.

Wish me luck with this!
