Export Error

S-Short wrote on 3/19/2021, 2:09 PM

I am VERY frustrated with the 2021 trial version of this program. It is not very intuitive and hangs a lot. I keep getting error messages when trying to export a project that is 2:40 mins long. Since it does not allow mpeg-2, I am trying to export it as a Magix file, but after 45 mins of exporting, it gives me an error message, over and over again. I am using WIN-10, my computer is up to date, with an SSD drive that has 730 GB free space and the following specs:

Processor    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz   2.00 GHz
Installed RAM    8.00 GB (7.90 GB usable)
System type    64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

I already cut the audio track from the project, and that did not help, either. I read the posts on this thread, and checked all the boxes that were mentioned, making sure the settings are right. It does not work, and I'm starting to feel very annoyed with this software. Help please.

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

Please tell us the exact wording of the error message that you see over and over again. That will give us rather more of a clue than we currently have as to what is causing the problem for you.

Unfortunately, your CPU is the bottleneck for you, I suspect. It has an iGPU but being HD 3000 is not nearly fast enough for any modern video editing package like MEP, sorry. If you read the requirements page for MEP here you will see what Magix states to be minimum. For "smooth running" those requirements should be exceeded by some margin, ideally.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

. . . . It does not work, and I'm starting to feel very annoyed with this software. . . . .

Did you read the system requirements for Movie Edit Pro (MEP) 2021?

. . . . Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2630QM CPU  . . . .

Your computer does not meet the minimum requirements for running MEP 2021 - the integrated GPU in the processor is an HD3000 and does not support the Hardware Acceleration (HWA).

The specifications state a minimum of HD 520 for MP4/AVC/HEVC video and if you are editing 4K or higher an Intel UHD 630 is the minimum required.

Currently MEP requires an Intel processor with integrated GPU for HWA exporting. If you have a Nvidia or AMD graphics card installed, and it meets the system requirements, MEP can only use it to accelerate Previewing of the timeline, it cannot be used it for accelerating export encoding.

I'm also not sure where you get 7.90GB of usable ram from when you have 8GB of ram. Windows itself uses quite a sizable chunk of that. Some of that figure must be virtual memory (cache) which is not really ideal.

The figures quoted are correct -, they are not referring to how much RAM is being used but how much is available for Windows and Programs to use - a small amount of the RAM is reserved, ~100 MB, often for hardware usage, virtual memory is a separate item.

The figures are in the System, About dialog.

Thanks to everyone who answered so quickly to my post. I am of course bummed that those numbers are way over my head, and I did not realize my computer specs did not match the program.

I can't remember the exact error messages, something like 'an error occurred while exporting/saving the file'...but the funky part is that after several tries it DOES save both movies and projects, and even exports them - while it gives me an error message at the end of the process. It seems totally random and discombobulated. It barks, but doesn't bite. Confusing. And again, I bemoan that the tutorials and the Help menu are not very helpful. I had to get most of my aid from the friend, who recommended the program in the first place.

Hi

Did you watch these tutorials by @browj2 :

        MEP 2021 getting started - part 1

        MEP 2021 getting started - part 2

        MEP 2021 getting started - part 3

Errors occurring during export are often caused by an video/image/audio effect or file and can be difficult to pin down without watching for the timeline time in the export dialog waiting for a crash and noting the approximate time then looking at what is on the timeline around the noted time.
