Export quality from RTX Ti3060 far inferior to UHD770

AAProds wrote on 2/22/2026, 4:39 AM

I have read at various points that CPU encoding yields better results than GPU encoding, but the experiments I'd done in the past weren't conclusive enough to justify the extra encoding time. I've just started editing drone footage videos (2720x1530, 59.94 CFR) 9XMAS present!), some of which have extensive slow panning, and noticed a definite jerky/"non-smooth" motion. It was so bad that I was disappointed, especially with the TV display.

So as an experiment, I loaded that jerky file into Handbrake and exported it using the default x264 and to my horror, it was smooth.

I then loaded that jerky back into VDL (I'd deleted the source files) and exported using the UHD770, and lo and behold, it was smooth as silk.

So, for this type of source at least, it seems using the iGPU produced a much nicer export than the RTX GPU. I didn't try the CPU itself.

Has anybody found the same?

Hello @AAProds , is your Magix Video Deluxe 2026 up to date?

If so, you might be experiencing problems with NVENC H264 (AVCHD). Exporting should be smooth with NVENC H265 (HEVC).

The number of affected users is small.

It seems only a small number of users are affected.

In the German forum, we've only had 3 or 4 other affected users so far.

It's due to the latest Magix update for the current Nvidia drivers.

With H264, the export is no longer performed cleanly, resulting in noticeable stuttering.

User @vdl-user-v19 has been most involved with this issue so far.

Yes, only a few users have commented on the issue so far.
Nevertheless, I think that it is a general problem in the configuration mentioned (latest version of the 2026 Magix software with the latest Nvidia driver).
Let's hope it gets patched soon.
In the meantime, you can switch to HEVC or existing Intel graphics.

G'day, interesting, thanks for that. My situation:

-VDL is at version 316 (no updates available)

-I'm using the NVidia 581.80 driver you referred Andy to in this post.

-HEVC on the 3060 does indeed export nice and smoothly, like the UHD770 did with H264. Thanks for that tip, although I'm a bit old-fashioned and like H264.

You can add my name to the list. 😉

@AAProds,

Thanks for letting us know that the problem also exists with the older 58x.xx driver. This confirms once again that the Magix patch .316 solved one problem but created another.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that before.

I just updated to the current NVidia driver 591.86 and the problem remains for H264.
