Export to MP3, after normalizing, nothing happens.

Azzizzi wrote on 9/4/2021, 2:55 PM

I'm using Movie Edit Pro 2021 (Version 21.0.1.85 (UDP3)) to import audio that I'm editing. When I attempt to edit to WAV, no issues. The file is created with no problems.

When I attempt to export to MP3, that's where I have issues. In most cases, after normalizing, nothing else happens. I have adjusted some of the settings, which lead to getting an error that says: “Hardware acceleration has been deactivated.” It also lists some possible causes.

I found this article: https://www.magix.info/us/support/article/hardware-acceleration-is-disabled-during-export--169/

The computer I'm using meets the requirements.

There are no issues in the Device Manager.

When I go to "File" > "Settings" > "Program", and open the "Import/Export" tab, the instructions say to enable "Hardware acceleration during export, if possible".

>This option is not available to me.

However, if I go to the "Device Options" tab, I can see three options for Import, Processing, and Export. I can change each of these three options, but the changes either 1) give me the error message when attempting to export as MP3; or 2) give me no error message when attempting to export as MP3. In either case, it does not export as MP3.

That's as far as I've gotten in my troubleshooting.

I also attempted to do something similar in Music Maker, but there's no option to import an existing MP3, so that's a non-starter. If there is an option to import an existing MP3, I haven't found it.

Using Windows 10

Also using Intel UHD Graphics 620

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Hi Azzizzi.

As far as I'm aware there is hardware acceleration for the use with making mp3 files which are purely audio with no video content.

Can you do a screen grab of you program settings of your Display Options please.

It should look similar to that setup.

If it doesn't then check Windows Settings / System and scroll down to and click on Advanced display setting and you should see if your graphics card chip is enabled there.

It is better to set volumes in the sound mixer and monitor for peaks. Stick the limiter on the output channel if it's needed to prevent clipping.

I don't see a tab for Display Options.

@Azzizzi

Hi.

In Movie Edit Pro, go to File / Settings / Program, and Device options is the second to last tab on the right.

Bye the way you are using Movie Edit Pro 2022 not 2021.

Trying to change any graphics options while a project is loaded produces a crash. Alter graphics settings before you load a project if you need to.

This is now a confirmed bug as far as I'm concerned. I will report it to Magix.

@Azzizzi

Try opening MEP and change those setting before you load a project.

Try making all selections the same. So either all CPU or all Intel Graphics 620 or all Microsoft WARP. Then close and reopen and load your project.

See which performs best.

Thanks for that.

Here are the results:

Intel UHD Graphics 620

It fails and gives the error message.  In the settings, “Processing” has changed back to CPU.

CPU

It fails with no error message and nothing happens after normalization completes.

Microsoft WARP Device

It fails and gives the error message.  In the settings, “Processing” has changed back to CPU.

At this point, I could just export a file as a WAV file and convert it using a different program. However, there's a second issue that makes it unusable at this point. I created a new post about that one.

@Azzizzi

Hi Azzizzi.

I have checked this for myself now and can confirm that exporting an mp3 file is not possible with MEP2022 under any setting.

I will file a bug report with Magix if I can find a third person to confirm the result. .

Can anyone else confirm please?

@Azzizzi @CubeAce

Hi,

Using MEP2021 Plus on my laptop (Intel HD Graphics 520), I have no problems exporting to MP3 with normalization checked.

@Azzizzi I just noticed that you indicated that you have MEP 2021 but the version is 21.0.1.85. That is for MEP2022. MEP 2021 latest version is 20.0.1.80.

I just checked VPX13 and I have the same result with the following message:

So, there is probably something wrong with MEP 2022 as well.

I have Music Maker 2022 and the Premium 2022 Edition. I dragged and dropped the MP3 exported from MEP onto the Arranger, no problem.

Which version of Music Maker do you have? Did you try drag and drop from Windows Explorer?

I suggest that both of you raise a ticket with Magix about this export to MP3 problem.
