Feature Request: Audio Level Meter for VEGAS Video Capture

I’m using VEGAS Video Capture (Magix Movie Studio 17) to digitize old video tapes (VHS, Hi8) via FireWire.

The video is displayed correctly, but I would like to suggest adding a real-time audio level meter during capture.

When digitizing old tapes, it would be very useful to see the incoming audio levels, preferably with separate left and right channel meters (L/R). This would make it easy to verify that the audio is being captured correctly and to notice if the audio level is too low or if there is no audio signal at all.

Ideally, the audio meters could be displayed next to the video preview and show the current level in dB.

This would be a very useful feature for anyone digitizing video tapes through FireWire.

Hi

Firewire is, to all intent and purposes, an obsolete communication protocol, being superceded by USB 3 and Thunderbolt. Apple, the last supporter of the protocol have now abandoned it, and AFAIK, there are no manufacturers now supporting/manufacturing Firewire devices.

The original version of Vegas Movie Studio 17, acquired by Magix, is also obsolete. This was replaced with a rebranded version Magix Movie Edit Pro when the Vegas team abandoned Movie Studio several years ago.

Magix Movie Edit Pro has since been rebranded to Video Deluxe (VDL), the original name as known in the EU.

VDL does have sound level meters incorporated in the recording dialog see image below - recording is set for analog recording.

An upgrade to Video Deluxe may be an potential route for you depending on your computer system specs.
