Is there somewhere that gives the actual release number relevant to the various updates? I'm trying to determine how many releases my copy is behind the latest version.
. . . . Is there somewhere that gives the actual release number relevant to the various updates? I'm trying to determine how many releases my copy is behind the latest version . . . .
That depends on what you mean by releases - major or patches?
Major releases - you are running VPX 11 v17.x.x.xx, the current version is VPX 12 v18.x.x.xx
Patches - as far as my patch record goes, you are fully up to date with patches for VPX 11.
The major difference between VPX11 and VPX 12 is the INFUSION Engine - the newer '2' engine is an improvement over the original if you have an appropriate processor and graphics card.
Dates are not used to determine a program version - the correct method is using version numbers as found under under Help, About.
Dates, along with the program full name, are only useful if the version number cannot be determined because the program will not run or cannot be installed.
The first 2 characters are the major version number, so if it is 18 you have VPX 12, if 17 VPX 11 and so on.
The also applies to patches - they use the same numbering, and are specific to the major version number eg my initial VPX 12 installation version numbers sequence is:
18.0.1.77 - initial installation version
18.0.1.82 - patch
18.0.1.85 - patch
18.0.1.89 - patch - current as of today.
Note the initial installation version may not be the same as other user installations depending on when you first installed - the installers may be updated as new patches are released.
