Few questions on posting music and buying a licence.

Hey guys,

I have bought the Music Maker Premium 2013 (which had Music Studio full version included as an anniversary special). I enjoy it very much. Bbut I have few questions to ask :) I am sorry if I will repeat myself, but I have done my best to find answers on my own.

Am I right that you can post your music video on Youtube as long as you are not getting money from it?

And if I plan to buy a license, do I have to buy only 1 - which is Audio Pro Unlimited WAV? Or is there another one for the Music Studio, which was included in my purchased pack?

As I understand with the license I will be able to use soundpools/loops etc. in my own created/edited work in a commercial way?

Thanks for Your help and time! ^__^

Hi Katrin,

Remember we are all users here, none of us are lawyers.  My understanding of the Magix EULA (End User License Agreement) is that unless you have the Audio pro license you have no commercial or publishing rights to the material on music maker.  Will the Youtube copyright engine find you in violation of copyright?  Maybe or maybe not.  The Youtube copyright engine works very well with large music producers such as EMI, Sony Music, etc.  has Magix submitted their material?  Who knows.  Do you want to mess with copyright issues with Youtube? Probably not unless you can prove that you have a valid license to use the material in the way you are using it.  If you get enough copyright hits and cannot successfully dispute them, Youtube will either not allow you to post or cancel your account.  My advice is don't mess with copright material unless you want to take a chance.  Get the right license before you start publishing anything on the web or trying to sell anything.

In the past week I had uploaded a video to YT and I have a 10 second music intro that I arranged in Music Maker. I tried to monetise it but was turned down, YT asking me to prove I owned all rights to publish it. At first I wasn't sure what was in question. I had presumed what I put together from Music Maker was ok to use. So I re-edited the video, but pixelated anything that I thought might be in question, mostly logos that were present, and made whatever may have been questionalble concerning bits of background music, unrecognizable. Then I uploaded the video again to YouTube. I thought I was covered concerning copyrights this time around. But was refused again. I'm lucky they didn't penalized me for the repeated upload of the video like they warned the first time (a generic mssg). But even this time, I thought that I was safe concerning copyright, but just had to find out how I could prove via here at Magix. Then I saw these questions from Katrin, and answers from George and John... I guess I never did have the rights to use from the soundpool in MM :/ and try to monetize it.

How does one go about getting a license for 'Audio Pro'? And having this license allows whatever I use from MM Soundpool copyright protected for myself?

I will read your post on 'this topic' John.

Thank You, Katrin, George and John!

PS.. Here is the video in question if you want to see it:

marksanche,

I am now thinking of getting the license :) More information on them, depending on which product you have, you can find on catooh website ;)

Here's the link: https://www.catooh.com/us/sys/id/Katalog/area/Collections-8560/

BIG THANKS to George and John! :)

I also got an answer from MAGIX support  regarding putting made music videos on YouTube :

...the use of the provided audio content is limited to private and non-commcerical use. The public presentation of the songs is still possible as long as it's non-commercial (e.g. YouTube without using any monetisation on your channel). However, for commercial productions you will need to obtain a suitable license for the content in question via Catooh (www.catooh.com)....

A BIG THANKS TO ALL THREE OF YOU Katrin, John and George!!!

Now I have a better understanding of all this copyright stuff.... And have also learned that I can sell my own images, videos and audio files on Catooh to other creators or whoever... That's great!! :)
