Gliding Transition change direction

steveh3100 wrote on 12/21/2020, 2:44 AM

I have added the gliding transition to my timeline but there is no way of changing the direction, it goes auto left to right I want it to go top to bottom and bottom to top but when you click the arrow symbol on the bottom left of the clip timeline it just brings up a transitions window.as below

If you click the arrow button on the right it brings up the transitions window on top of the gliding menu but I cannot get the gliding menu with the choice of direction on the actual crossover point of the two clips.

I need the menu from the bottom picture to appear when i click the arrow on the transition between the two clips can anyone help?

Forgot to say I am using the new Pro edit 2020 version

I'm using an earlier version of MEPP but if I show you my usual steps then hopefully it will help you apply to your issue.

I have managed to find the solution - you click on settings at the bottom of the menu then the gliding directions appear. I must say I find the 2020 version over complicated compared to the other versions, the cookie cutter is a welcome addition but it needs to have a free form cutting option not just square, triangle etc.

This post can now be closed as solution is found.

Hi Steve.

It would be easy to make your own version of the cookie cutter by making a custom Mask shape in Paint and saving as either a PNG file or jpg and then applying the Chroma Key to it. It would have to be larger than the chosen resolution of the project if you wanted to move it around and track something though.

. . . . making a custom Mask shape in Paint and saving as either a PNG file or jpg . . . .

The mask should be Black/white eg

It does not matter which area is black or white - the above with a black top left and the rest white is also OK - as you apply Chromakey Alpha. Alpha allows you to control the direction of the effect using the direction arrow, see image below, once Alpha is applied.

Hi john.

That was stupid of me not to mention the colours needed. Thanks for pointing that out as I sometimes forget what is obvious to me is not at all obvious to another user.

Hi Steve.

There are a lot of different ways to achieve various cross fades and some other basic effects in MEP and VPX once you have used it more, read the manual more, and got used to how most of the program works.

It's a very flexible program but takes time to figure out.
