have been using MEP2013 with no burning problems, Now bought MEP15 and insits on burning PAL Disks

I am unable to burn an NTSC Disk in MEP2015. I have read 20 + posts on this issue and nothing seems to help me fix my problem. All settings from what I can see are set to NTSC, have upgraded to latest version MEP15 - Version 14.0.0.166 - Posts show an advanced setting page which does not match my advanced setting page. How can I send you screenshots so you can see what my screens look like.

I have wasted many DVD's and the only way I can burn a NTSC DVD is to use my MEP2013. Crazy.

Please advise.

I have read the posts on these pages: http://www.magix.info/us/dvds-burned-with-mep-2015-plus-wont-play-on.knowledge.1117526.html

http://www.magix.info/us/dvd-created-on-mep2015-pro-will-not-play-on.knowledge.1120389.html

and either the screens referenced do not match my screens or mine are correctly set. Have used MEP for 5 + years so believe I know what I am doing.... there appears to be something going on with MEP15

Using Windows 7 Pro with all Microsoft updates and patches
Hardware is an ACER with Intel i7 Processor and 16 Gigs of Ram (Has worked fine with MEP13)

Thanks
G

Hi,

As you'll probably have seen from those previous posts you mention, I don't have MEP 2015. Hopefully someone who does will be along soon.

But AFAICT it seems that you're using the latest patch which is generally regarded as having solved the NTSC/PAL issue. So, yes, some screenshots of your detailed settings are probably the next step. Other MEP 2015 users may then be able to compare them with their own successful configurations.

Here's how to attach a screenshot (JPG) to your post.:

But make sure it's readable. Magix are stingy with pixels. So if there's detail text in a screenshot (as there usually is with settings dialogues) it's better to upload it to a host and give us the link. I use Dropbox.

Why are you burning physical DVDs? Open any of the VOB files in the folder prepared by MEP during the first stages of the process (as described in several of those 20 posts you mention) and use MediInfo or GSpot to check its dimensions.(Or play it in VLC and use Tools > Media Information > Codec.)

A PAL DVD will be 720 x 576 and an NTSC 720 x 480.

Or at least use a DVD RW!

Hi Terry: I think I found something interesting re MEP15 NTSC Burn issues.
See attached images. Seems the menu is being generated as a PAL file but the VOB files are NTSC.
Trying this to a DVD-RW is giving me errors, not sure why, I have never burnt to a DVD-RW
This is the error:

The above link is a patch from Magix to resolve the PAL/NTSC issue.

Received the following patch from Securityman:

https://support2.magix.com/customer/en/patch_download/73930/manual

The above link is a patch from Magix to resolve the PAL/NTSC issue.

When I run this it tells me I need to install MEP15 before installing this patch.

I have MEP15 Installed see my about screen below

I do have MEP15 installed on my D: Drive

"D:\Program Files\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro 2015 Plus\Videodeluxe.exe"

Is this maybe why the patch is not seeing the program?

Helpppp

Thanks

I just noticed that the patch Securityman sent me is actually the 14.0.0.166 which I have already installed a few days ago, see the about image below

You beat me to it. As I said in my previous post: "...it seems that you're using the latest patch which is generally regarded as having solved the NTSC/PAL issue."

Going back to your screenshot, as I mentioned I think this will have to wait for someone using MEP 2015, as I don't even recognise the rightmost part of your top screenshot (labelled '2'). In MEP 2014 Premium, when I use BURN > Burn > DVD > Encoder settings > Advanced (as you've presumably done to get to the '1' section of your hard-to-read screenshot) I get the window you say you've seen from my earlier posts in other threads. Here it is again:

High res: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4019461/UserDefined-Adv-Gen.jpg

Which, amongst other diffrerences, has five tabs, not two.

BTW, could you please use the correct product name to avoid future ambiguity. 'MEP15' is about six years old. You have MEP 2015 Plus.

Just uninstalled MEP15 Plus and Re-Installed after deleting all related folders.

After updating it appears to be burning an NTSC disk.
Seems my problem is fixed.
Thank you all for your input.

Hi Gerald,

That is good to hear!

I think that part of your problem may have been either improper project settings, with PAL selected by default, or you needed to select the correct preset in the Encoder settings. See the screen below.

If you had selected the preset in the image, then the Advanced parameters should have followed along correctly.

I stand corrected. The patch from Magix does not work. Now I am pissed!

browj2 wrote on 3/10/2015, 12:24 AM

Bummer!

Did you try the latest patch, 14.0.0.172?

Did you check everything, from the source file, project settings, burn settings, advanced burn settings (that is where I had something go wrong - on the second screen of the Advanced, a setting from the preset didn't hold), and then encode to a folder and check the VOB file format to make sure that it is NTSC and not PAL?

Something is going wrong in that chain somewhere.

I usually encode first, check the files, and then burn. So far, MEP2015 has not given me any PAL output to DVD.

And just for the future, make sure that you say MEP2015 and not MEP15.
