Having to re-register each time of opening MEP Premium. Latest version

Happening as it say's in the title.

No idea why. Everything re-installed normally and quite quickly with only having to re-register the MEP program. All extras activated without having to re-register.

The little pop up program that activates with MEP has changed to update notifier.

Any ideas? Not a problem, I can use MEP and all it's add-ons. I'm just wondering what the MAGIX servers will make of it.

I had to reload the program after messing about with my PCs overclocking software. I won't be trying that again.

Possibilities are:

Antivirus or firewall blocking MEP's ability to connect to the registration servers - you should have an error message though!
MEP cannot write to the drive, try running as Administrator to see if fixes the issue, and, if you are running Windows Defender, turn of the Ransomware protection /Protected folder option or add MEP to the list of allowed programs to make changes.

The second image looks like Magix Connect has a new name!

Hi John.

I'm the only person to use my machine so my account is Administrator.

I've now tried with the Antivirus off and MEP is registered with the firewall.

Still no joy, and yet Music Maker loads with no problems.

Repeatedly get login screen.

No idea when the title was changed to MAGIX Connect. Deleted that as well. Still no joy.

Hi Ray

The Windows definition of 'Administrator' should be redefined as an Administrator with restricted privileges - there is a higher level of 'Administrator' which you can access by selecting 'Run as administrator'.

From what you have said you would appear you have not turned off the Protected folders option in Windows Defender - this is known to cause issues regsitration among other things..

Personally I would not use Windows Defender again as AV/Firewall.

I tried for ~6 weeks and had several issues, particularly with MEP and VPX where it would continuously scan files as they were accessed, this made project loading slower and affected Preview playback, in the end I went back to Avast.

Hi John.

It's not making any difference what security features I switch on or off. Music Maker isn't having the same problems and that was downloaded at the same time.

I would like to know what causes this also, as I have an earlier version VPX7 which has been doing this for a couple of years. Have not really persued a reason as I only open it to compare something now and again.

Hi Peter.

I haven't solved it yet but mysteriously my old copy of Adobe Photoshop CS3 which did need an extra prompt from Windows before it would load now loads without hesitation. I'm assuming that was a Windows firewall thing.

I'm wondering if I've got more than one copy of MEPs registration process running when I open MEP as when I click to register there is a flickering of the timing icon as it requests permission. It never did that before.
