Hello guys, can anyone tell me what does colour correction mean? And how do I achieve this?

Hello I finished my film using the MAGIX Movie Edit Premium. Now before I went to burn that a friend asked me if I have done colour correction on the clips. Now what does that mean and why is that important. I have used many effects and differnt shades (Sepia and BW). Will I lose all these effects and colours if I do colour correction. And using MAGIX how can I do colour correction?

By using the Sepia and BW you have already done one form of correction.

Other cases where you may need to apply colour correction are:

1. If an image or video clip is showing a colour cast eg if you have taken a photo outdoors using the indoors setting, the image will have a blue colour cast to it.

2. If the colours of the image/video are a bit pale or anaemic looking then you can increase the saturation to make them more vivid.

You do not have to apply colour correction just for the sake of it - only use it if it is needed, also bear in mind that the colours you see on your computer will vary depend on viewing hardware ie they will look slightly different on different makes of TV/Projector/Computer screeens

Look in the pdf manual installed wih the software for how to do it - in the software it is on the Effects tab, Video Effects Colour or Colour Correction

Also do some reading on basic photography techniques - they apply equally well to video as well as still images.
