Help on Video Saver Deluxe connecting to my VCR

Can't seem to get my video recorder to connect to the Video Saver Deluxe (2016) that I just bought!  I had an old version (2012 Version 7) that i tried to use on my video recordings, but the drivers were too old.  When I saw you had a new version I decided to get it and choose the Deluxe version (big mistake - too many options)! )  I have it wired correctly to the VCR but I get nothing when I run the software and the VCR.  I have repeatedly created a new Project version and hit the Record but I get a blank screen in the software program!  No recording.  With the USB plugged in, with it properly wired (white to white, red to red, and yellow to yellow) the computer appears to not even recognize it.  When I list what is attached on my computer, this external drive is not even listed!  Documentation is terrible as I keep getting a message to try a free trial of the PDF reader.  Very frustrated!  Just want the simple steps to capture the VCR recording!  Note: the VCR works fine as I connected it to my TV and the videos played fine!  Please help as I am thoroughly frustrated!  Thanks

I have Windows 11.

@pfarr First of all, can you select the video grabber as an input device inside Video Saver Deluxe? Do you see an preview of your video?

If not, then please check if Windows blocks audio and video recording. You might need to allow it first, see here:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-US/Windows/privacy/windows-camera-microphone-and-privacy

You need to allow Microphone and Camera access for desktop apps otherwise it will not work.

If this works and you still cannot record video, please make sure you don't save the video inside the OneDrive folder. This folder gets automatically synced with the Microsoft Cloud. OneDrive might prevent accessing the folder or might simply overwrite your files.
