HEVC will not load even using 'create proxy' files

Windows 10 .. either desktop or laptop. Laptop is Dell Inspiron 14 8th Generation Intel Core i3-8145u Processor, Intel UHD Graphics 620 with Shared Graphics memory. 128GB M.2 PCIe Solid State Drive. Also have Microsoft HEVC video extension App. I am evaluating the 'free trial' version of Movie Edit Pro Premium. Looking for video editing for my GoPro 8. So far no luck in importing the *.mp4 files from the camera/card into the software's project pool even when using the 'Automatically create proxy files' option as described in the online help. With that option checked in 'settings' I still get the >>> 'Unfortunately, the function 'HEVC-Codec' is not available due to licensing conditions', message. Am I correct in presuming from this message that this software is not capable of editing current GoPro files?

Welcome to the Magix forums.

The HEVC codec is, almost certainly, one of the add-ons that become available once the software is purchased and registered. I've just tested an HEVC encoded mp4 in MEP Premium (latest version) and it opens and runs perfectly, without the need for proxy files.

Hi

. . . . I am evaluating the 'free trial' version of Movie Edit Pro Premium . . . .

The free trial is restricted on which codecs can be used, exports are of limited length (3 mins IIRC) and a lot of features are disabled.

Once you purchase the export limit is removed, the features and functionality is no longer limited, HEVC can be imported, however HEVC export there is a fee based activation.

. . . . importing the *.mp4 files from the camera/card into the software's project pool . . . .

This would suggest you are working directly from the cameras card, if so then you must copy the files to a folder in Movie Edit Pro's projects folder on your PC, MEP needs to create additional support files for video and audio in the same folder as the source files.

The HEVC codec can be loaded from only USA Microsoft Web site. After installation 100%chance that you cannot use with your software same for HEI image format
