Hi there my new laptop does not have a dvd drive so I copied it onto an ssd and then installed from there. The installation works but when i try to Install the addons via the help it cannot find it - please help!
In this instance the more information you give us, the more likely someone will be able to help you.
We need the version of Movie Edit Pro you are trying to install as well as your machine make and model as a minimum of information, if not the complete machine specs including which version and build of Windows you are using and what add-ons you are missing.
Gday Scott, if you can't resolve this, and provided you have plenty of data allowance (you'll use around 2gb for a minimalist install) I'd uninstall, log in to your Magix account and just commence the install from there. Magix will download the install manager file, then install the main program.
If it shows that you have activated MEP already, I'd suggest you deactivate the installed version, then uninstall. You can deactivate on the "My Products" page.
I haven't used a DVD for installation for maybe a decade or so. The install from the website (as well as the addons/extra content) works well. 🙂 As mentioned, depends, of course, on your data allowance.
Thank you both for responding! I have Magix Movie Edit Pro MX Premium. I copied the files to an ssd and installed from there as the laptop I was loaned had to be returned. I tried it also via sharing the drive on that laptop over the network and no joy either. Via the ssd drive and no joy...It installs The Movie edit program but when trying to install the add ons from within the program it cannot find them...
It is possible to download the rest o the content on line. As the program has to be registered on line to work anyway just visit your Magix User account. If you don't have one yet create one and register. Then you will have access to all content to download. As @AAProds has said though the amount of data is huge and needs a fairly fast connection as well as data allowance.
MEP MX Premium is now an "old" version. However, if you are unable to download the additional content via the route that @CubeAce has suggested I would suggest the following method, although it does involve some small additional cost: invest in an external USB DVD-Rewriter, connect it to your computer, put your program DVD in it and then navigate to the disc and allow the program to install the missing content.
In fact, had you asked about how to install your program "from scratch" when your computer does not have a DVD drive, this would have been my suggested method! Whatever you copied to the SSD clearly did not include the additional content; using an external DVD-Rewriter would have bypassed the problem completely.
Problem is the content is somewhere in a cab file as is not in the additional programs so dont know which one and it has to be added while in the mmxpro program via help menu add additional programs
So, I'm going to suggest a "radical" method: buy an external USB DVD-Rewriter, completely uninstall the program on your new laptop - follow carefully the procedure in this tutorial - then reinstall by using your original DVD in the external DVD drive.
Theoretically, you can use most unzip programs to open and study the content of .cab files but it still may not be obvious which files belong to which content!
I suggest again... install it from the Magix.com website. Log in with your account, go to My products, register using the serial number, then install. Then download the additional content through the MEP Help menu.
Here's mine ready and waiting:
If you insist on using the SSD (no problems there but a bit fiddly) you'll have to rip the ISO from the DVD using a DVD ripper such as Imageburn, otherwise, the install probably won't work properly (as you've found). Then you double-click in Windows 10 to display the contents of the ISO (aka the DVD).
