Hit Film and NewBlue effects not working.

Whenever I select any of the Hit Film Variety Pack or New Blue Filters 5 Recolor or Recreate effects to a video or a picture in my project, the picture or video goes blank and so far, the only way to get it back appears to be to remove the effect. I have tried to reset the preferences, made sure the New Blue and Hit Film effects are "Activated", tried to export a movie to see if it was just a preview problem (but the export was also blank). I have tried some of the other built in "effects" such as the size and position effects, lens flare, distortion (i.e. whirlpool, fisheye, etc.) and those all seem to be working just fine. I thought it may just be a problem with the preview and tried altering the preview settings (i.e. the "lightning bolt" settings) and that didn't help. I HAVE used these effects before successfully on other videos so don't know what changed (other than the Magix Movie Edit Pro itself, which did update once or twice recently).

I am using Magix Movie Edit Pro Plus with the latest update applied (though I did try my older install version without the update applied) and the Hit Film and New Color packs say they are up to date. My Windows 10 is up to date and the PC is a Dell XPS with an i7 7700HQ and a dedicated nVidia card GTX 1050, 16GB RAM and a 1TB solid state PCIE drive. As mentioned above, I have used the effects before successfully just can't figure out why they stopped working.

The following link I found shows it quite well (I didn't make this video but I found it by searching for others with the same problem). The difference for me is that it does it with the Hit Film effects that came with my MEP Plus purchase also and it does not seem to be intermittent but actually happens all the time so far. I have been trying all day to get it working with no luck.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

UPDATE EDIT: I ran MEP with the nVidia graphics processor (it was defaulting to the integrated graphics) and the effects seem to be working now. Out of curiosity, I re-ran MEP with the integrated graphics and it worked sometimes (now more "intermittent"). I don't mind using the nVidia graphics for MEP and set it as the default (not sure why I never used it before... I guess just because it seemed to work fine with the integrated graphics). Maybe there is a setting in the integrated graphics that would make it work...???
