How can I tell if I have Video Pro X17 Standard or Ultimate?

murrayatuptown wrote on 8/4/2026, 5:53 PM

I mistakenly purchased the upgrade prior to the actual program due to daily prompts that the upgrade was on sale.

I tried submitting a help request twice today with a .jpg screenshot of my version and s/n info and an error occurred - support request could not be saved.

Maybe the activation was invalid because of the reverse order of purchase.

I downloaded & reinstalled today because I have a new PC. What I installed is

23.0.1.318 (UDP3)

UG Code 8488 KA1.

Thank you

Murray

Hi Murray,

Watch this video. It will be plainly obvious if you purchased the Ultimate version.

Thank you, Browj2.

I know what I purchased but it won't install the content correctly.

I have tried submitting a help request 3 times and get "The support request could not be saved."

I received an AI e-mail that apparently sensed I was trying to make the request & gave some suggestions said to reply if I needed more help and a human would follow up. No follow-up and another attempt to open a help request failed the same way.

This is uncool.

The contact form that requires a login is the process that fails to save.

@murrayatuptown

The contact form that requires a login is the process that fails to save.

So, obvious question, I think: are you logged into your Magix account before you attempt to submit the form?

Hi,

Your question, as per the header of this thread is:

How can I tell if I have Video Pro X17 Standard or Ultimate?

I tell you to watch a video that shows all about VPX Ultimate and getting the program, its content and the Ultimate programs and content installed.

Your reply was:

I know what I purchased but it won't install the content correctly.

which is contrary to your question.

Now we have to guess at what you mean by "the content" and what you mean by "correctly."

If you mean the content that comes with VPX, you have upgraded VPX and the content was already installed with the previous version. I show this in the video.

So, how about you tell us exactly what you mean.

Also,

I mistakenly purchased the upgrade prior to the actual program...

I have no idea what you mean. The upgrade is the actual program, you are just paying a lower price than for a new user.

emmrecs: I am pretty certain I had to be logged in, to get to the form. The first step asks for username & password & states that login is required. I believe so. At least I typed the login info in, I typed my info & waited for it to be saved. I don't see how I could not have been logged in.

John CB:

Sorry about the lack of clarity in what I typed. When I'm posting on the forum I am not able to see the current issue or my invoices and I had two install attempts on the old laptop that died, and a fresh install and a couple content installation attempts on the new desktop. Different things happened each time, which makes typing from recall confusing even for me.

I assumed that a help request would allow someone access to the transaction history and the activation codes, at least one of which became invalid (maybe superceded by repeating the install process a 2nd time?). I shouldn't post the transaction info in the forum, so that's why I was so intent on submitting a help request.

Thank you

I'll look again and take notes.

I did watch the video (older release?) & thought it was very close, but not identical to what I saw in my efforts. Different enough that me seeing the content absent (not installed), visible to select, then 'greyed out' & inaccessible later makes my 'status' not at all clear. Seeing the content component names with unchecked boxes and inaccessible suggests it might already be installed. But repetitive popup screens inviting me to upgrade that program (and charge me again) is why I don't think it's as it should be.

browj2 wrote on 8/8/2026, 1:13 PM

Hi,

Magix has a popup ad when you exit the program, usually to upgrade the program to what you already have, that is, it doesn't know what you have. Ignore these adverts, or, click on the parameter box at the bottom left of the advert and select, "Don't show this ad again" or "Don't show ads" to not see ads again...until the next time.

Also, in the Program settings (Y), System tab, check the Hide News box. Of course, you probably won't be advised about a new release.
