MEP 17+ is quite an "old" version, especially when used with Win 8.1!  I suspect your MEP cannot "see" the burner because of this latest OS.

However, you should be able to burn a disc image (use the Image Recorder option on the burn screen) and then burn the disc using whatever burning software you have on your computer which can see your burner.
