Speeding up the playback of the video.

While I am editing the view. I have to stop it, and press play. I have to wait for it to play at low speed, through the entire section ?

@VideoPro

The keyboard shortcuts J K L are your saviour here! J = reverse playback, K = stop, L= forward playback but the biggest "plus" to both J and L is that each repeated press of them accelerates the chosen playback, from "normal" speed, to double to quadruple etc. So, if you wish to quickly scrub through a section, press L as many times as you like until you reach the section you want to view at normal speed, then press K (stop) and L (normal playback) again.

Hi

My preference before I got a Shuttle controller was to use the Jog/shuttle controls at the bottom of the Preview monitor - you may need to set them to visible - the option is in the menu (hamburger) top left of the preview monitor, also ensure the monitor has enough free estate so they are visible.

Using the slide control on the right, indicated in the image below, drag and hold left or right increases speed in the appropriate direction, returns to normal speed when let go.

Hi John

Having just invested in the Contour Shuttle Express, I fully agree it makes the forward and reverse shuttling so much easier!

As for the Jog shuttle wheel on the MEP screen, to me, the option to hover one's hand above the JKL keys is "easier" than having to hold the Jog wheel with the mouse button. Purely a personal preference! 😇

this is not what I am looking for.

Using the JKL buttons just jumps you around the video, and MUTES the entire video. I am seeking for what the person is saying, and hence, I need to hear the audio, just sped up faster.

That feature is called "audio scrubbing", which you didn't make clear in your original post!

Anyway, see this screenshot. Right-click on the highlighted icon and make sure "scrubbing" is turned ON

I didn't know about the shortcut keys but just tried them. They do not mute the audio on my system. You may have to consider increasing the buffer memory in the program setup to overcome this. Even so, hearing what is said at higher speeds is difficult due to MEP delivering the audio in chunks that will miss chunks of what is being said at it's normal pitch rather than a speeding up and producing a higher pitched but smoother and continuous audio output. Altering the audio buffer may also alter program responsiveness giving delays to stop and go commands. It's a balance with trade-off's.

Further settings.

Neither setting is ideal for what you want to do but you may prefer the sound of one option over the other.
