How Do I Draw A Circle ?

CLINT-DANBURY wrote on 10/11/2021, 2:27 PM

Hi Gang, Sorry I don't know the correct nomenclature to use here; anyway, this is what I want to do...

  • First, make a screen capture, maybe ten, maybe twenty seconds long; whatever, enough to let the viewer concentrate, think, assimilate, and hopefully absorb the content
  • Oh BUT --->  Today's software has a universal tendency to cram way too much info on the screen at one time.  The result is obfuscation and extreme levels of discouragement; typically enough to disengage the viewer from any future involvement.
  • I have seen videos all over the place where the author makes a little circle; really, it's usually more like an oval or an ellipse.
  • If it has an "imperfect" connection at the top, it's even better, as that looks more like a human drew the image on the screen for the viewer

Please help the clueless newbee.  I tried searching for "How do you draw a circle ?" and the system says there is no such thing.

First goal: Vocabulary; i.e., I want to learn which words, phrases, jargon, and generally accepted lingo I need to ask this question.

Second goal:  Acquire the skill needed to draw a bright orange ellipse around the secret key phrase on the viewer's screen which has a thousand words on it.

If we already have a tutorial video on this topic, please just point me to it.

I'm using Movie Studio 18 Platinum

Hi Clint.

Movie Studio and Movie Edit Pro are virtually identical so.

First go to templates and choose the following folder where you will find coloured backgrounds and drag one onto a track. If you are asked if you want it to be placed on a track as an object then accept.

Next go the Layers masks and select a shape. Place it on the track underneath.

You will see it is inside out. Clicking on the downwards facing arrow will turn it the correct way around.

[I made my image wrong, the arrow should be facing the other way.]

Notice the arrow is now pointing upwards.

Now export the file as either a jpg, Bitmap or PNG image to use in a project

To place the resulting file where to want it you will need to use both the chroma key effect and the size position effect.

Equally just make an image in Windows paint or Windows Snip and Sketch.

Ray.
