How do I get MEP 2021+ to use hardware acceleration?

mojoaudioguru wrote on 9/21/2020, 11:49 PM

I never had a problem getting the CPU to render using hardware acceleration, in MEP 2020+ However, in MEP 2021+, whenever I try to encode either in HVEC or Blu-ray media, there is no hardware acceleration, at all. I haven't changed anything in my computer. Which is running the latest version of Windows 10 pro, 64bit, with an intel i7-7700K CPU, overclocked at 4.75 gig, with 16 gig of DDR4 Ram, and a GTX1050 Ti SC GPU, with 4 gig of DDR5 Ram. No matter what I do, I can't get the Intel 630 GPU / Quick Sync to accelerate the rendering process. Anyone have any ideas? Is there a new way to engage hardware acceleration in MEP 2021+?

Hi.

Have you set MEP to Power Saving Mode for the Intel GPU in Windows?

Thank you. I tried it last night, after reading your suggestion, not having done it for previous versions, (It just worked fine on it's own with MEP 2019+ and 2020+), but then everything went nuts. My computer shut down and wouldn't start up again. But, I don't think that had anything to do with it. I have a 5 SSD/HDD raid setup, and one of the drives was acting up. In short, I've been up all night, restoring my computer. Had to reformat the OS on the SSD drive with all my software. Lost the edit that I was working on, but I still have all the raw footage. (A wedding) So, after getting this thing back up and fully loaded with everything, including MEP 2021+, I'll be re-editing this wedding, and attempting to render it again. Hopefully, your suggestion works. I just never had to do that in the past. The hardware acceleration just did it's thing. I thought maybe MAGIX changed something. I was able to burn a DVD of said 2 hour wedding, and it only took 56 minutes. But it didn't need to use acceleration. I was trying to render the AVCHD / Blu-ray, and that's where it wouldn't accelerate. Same with the HEVC version. (They have folks in Europe, and wanted to post it online) Thankfully, I have a DVD to work off of. (I still have to make a PAL version for those folks in Europe) I just wish MAGIX would stop changing things that don't necessarily need changing, on every new version they put out. Thank you, once again.

Hi

. . . . I have a 5 SSD/HDD raid setup . . .

What is the specific configuration you are using eg single SSD for OS and programs, RAID x for the other 4 drives etc, and the RAID type ie 0,1 2,5 6 etc.

. . . . They have folks in Europe, and wanted to post it online . . . .

PAL/NTSC is irrelevant when posting online, however -

. . . . I still have to make a PAL version for those folks in Europe . . .

- if you are sending DVD or BD discs, then yes, they should preferably be PAL , although many European players will play NTSC discs, it is better to avoid an issue if possible.

Yes, it's a 1 TB SSD for the OS and MEP 2021+, and a mix of two 1 TB SSDs and two 2 TB HDDs. (Not to mention the 4 TB external HDD)

Yes, I am aware about video compatibility, online. They still wanted a PAL hard copy.

Didn't know that they play NTSC. (However, thanks to you, now I do) Thx for the help (?)
