1.  Placing music in a video

2. Adjusting length of music to fit video length

3. Making the music, background music

4. Make the music the main sound tract....replacing any video sounds/voices.

Hi David,

I have MX Plus. Music and other audio files are basically objects like a video. You drag the file onto a track where you want and edit it.

What you are asking for is a course on how to treat audio. I suggest that you start by reading the manual. Go to page 154 in the MX manual and read the section on Audio editing.

See also about Recording and using Audio starting on page 85.

To reduce the volume of music during dialogue, see the part about Automatic track damping, also known as ducking on page 173. You can do this manually for better control.

You can reduce the volume of the audio track of the video by object by dragging the volume handle or by points by turning on the volume curve and adding points to the volume curve and dragging them up and down. See the manual.

To decide which tracks to place your music on, keep in mind that MEP uses track 5 for Soundtrack Maker and music from Slideshow Maker. I suggest tracks 6 and 7 or below to avoid any conflicts. I keep tracks 1 to 4 for the video/photos (video soundtrack goes automatically onto track 2) , with 3 and 4 for titles and effects. If you have more effects, superimposed images etc., then compensate by moving the music further down on the tracks, but keep 5 for any sound generated by MEP.
