How to capture from Sony FDR AX53

Hi,

I am trying to capture from a Sony Video FDR AX53 via the hdmi port into a Surface Pro 3 Display port using adapters to link them all.

No matter what I choose in VPX in Record, it says the device is not shown, yet it is on and playing.

Any ideas please?

This is not possible - the Surface Pro display port (miniport) is output only.

To capture* from the camera you will need a HDMI to USB converter to capture the video from the AX53.

* I am assuming you are trying to use the camera as a 'webcam' for live recording - if not what are you trying to do?

Yes thats one thing, so I can use the Surface as monitor viewer and record onto the PC.

To use a separate monitor you would have to use a TV or purchase a dedicated HDMI capable monitor to connect to the camera.

To get video into the PC, record on the camera as normal then transfer the video to the PC either via USB or SD card reader.

Thank you. I think I will put this on the burner for a while as another project has arisen for another post.
