How to export MP3s & MP4 with 320kbs audio bitrate??

Apollo89x wrote on 3/22/2026, 2:48 PM

When I try to export files (which are 320 audio) to Mp3 or Mp4 format, via MEP (2026), the highest audio-rate displayed in the drop-down menu = 192kbs.

This seems quite bizzare, as exporting at 256/320 is an extremely basic feature, that you'd expect from literally any/every editing program...

But so how exactly do you export into Mp3/Mp4 format, using MEP, retaining 320 audio bit-rate?

@Apollo89x

What are you actually trying to do?

MP3 Export has 320 in the bitrate droplist.

MP3 in MP4 is not common and as far as I can see, not offered with VDL (perhaps it is in VPX?). AAC in MP4 is very common and that is why it's offered in VDL. 192khz has been deemed high enough (192 AAC isn't the same as 192 MP2).

MP2 in MPEG 2 is common and 320 is available in the droplist.

BTW, it's not MEP 2026, it's VDL 2026.

Hi

To add to @AAProds comment: . . . . MP3 in MP4 is not common . . . .

MP4 is not a video format it is a container file format which can contain various video and audio encoding formats.

Assuming you are exporting to h.264/AVC the 'standard' formats are AAC or AC3 (Dolby Digital) for maximum player compatibility.

AVC/MP3 combination is not only uncommon, the combination is technically 'illegal', and which can result in an unplayable video file.

Is the video export going to be used for further editing or inclusion in another video?

I simply want to export .WAV files (which are 320 bitrate) into .MP4 format (whilst retaining the 320 bitrate).

I am fully aware that MP4 is just a container... ect
Likewise, I am just as fully aware that "Converting wavs into mp4 format = uncommon/lossy... ect".

I have my own reasons as to WHY I want to do this
\
But so simply want to know IF VDL 2026 actually offers the functionality of "Exporting files into .MP4 format, at 320 bitrate" - Yes (or) No?
