How to make a 5.1 Surround DVD BD disc ?

john-m33 wrote on 12/23/2014, 3:28 PM

Using MEP15 Plus: Every time I extract the sound channels into the 3 tracks it takes ages, and I often get a few clips that dont split ("not enough space" error), but will extract on second attempt. Then I save, exit, and open again.  I select the 5.1 on the mixer, and start to burn the DVD or BD disc. Early on during the process of making the image (after 5 to 20mins, so before actual burning takes place) I get the blue screen of death!

If I dont extract the sound channels, but still select the 5.1 button on the mixer, the burn is sucessful, but I'm not too sure I'm actually getting 5.1 surround sound. Am I? Does anyone know? Is there a tutorial?

I get exactly the same problem for DVD-R (Std DVD PAL AC3 with 5.1 surround mode) or BD-R (Std PAL 5.1 1920x1080, 25fps) so the crash seems to point to a software bug.  Also tried different movies.  The project has 2 movies of abot 40mins, so only get about 2 to 10% of the way there!

Hi

. . . . Using MEP15 Plus . . . .

Do you mean MEP15 Plus or MEP 2015 - if 2015 please refer to the vesion as 2015.  Version 15 is still used by many memebers here and using the correct version will avoid confusion.

Do you have a 5.1 or 6.1 surround sound card installed on your computer?

What is your computer specification, including Windows version and whether 32 or 64 bit?

Hi

Thanks for the additional info.

. . . . . I often get a few clips that dont split ("not enough space" error), but will extract on second attempt. Then I save, exit, and open again. . .. .

That is because the computer doesnot have enough available RAM.  For HD video a minimum of 8 GB is preferable, 16GB much better

. . . .   I select the 5.1 on the mixer, and start to burn the DVD or BD disc. . . . .

In the Burn settings for BD check the following is also set to Surround sound - note this screenshot is from MEP 2013 however MEP 15 should be similar.
