How to stop Magix trying to force me to install Travel Maps everytime?

Apollo89x wrote on 4/6/2026, 9:57 AM

I do not want to install that crap! lol

But so why does Magix refuse to just take no for answer?
\
And instead, every single time I open Movie Studio = A pop-up box appears trying to get me to install Travel Maps?

Is there any way I can just disable this | So it will stop displaying that spammy pop-up everytime I open the program?

I do not want to install that crap!

Obviously, you have no clue what can be done with Travel Maps. It is one of the most useful tools available for Magix video programs and there is almost nothing quite like it on the market. The only one that I have found that beats it is Vasco da Gama, which is quite expensive. Many Vegas users have purchased the least expensive version of Movie Studio/Video Deluxe or PhotoStory, just to get Travel Maps, and you think that it's crap.

every single time I open Movie Studio = A pop-up box appears trying to get me to install Travel Maps

I highly doubt that. Since you didn't bother to show a screen shot, I'll have to guess. You are probably getting the image below:

Is there any way I can just disable this | So it will stop displaying that spammy pop-up everytime I open the program?

If this is what you are talking about, and there is nothing that mentions Travel Maps, but I do hope that you can figure how to stop this little box from showing just by looking at the screen and reading and doing what it says.

If this is not it, then post a screen shot.

No... "Travel Maps" is just an annoying spammy gimmick, which 99.999% of video editors have absolutely no use for! Lol

I get that most of you guys who work for/live on this forum literally seem to have a fetish for Magix | So glorify & worship everything about it, and every feature it possesses... ect

But for people simply view Video Editing Software as nothing more than a tool = We find spammy pop-ups, trying to get us to install crap (even after ticking the boxes saying we don't want it), as just annoying & spammy.

No, it is not a spammy gimmick. You obviously have no clue about what it does or how to use it. I use it with most of my videos - because I am going somewhere and I like to show where. There are many posts on this forum from users about using Travel Maps, in all forum languages.

You don't even use the Video Deluxe for editing.

And, you did not even reply to what I showed you.

Obviously, I was correct. Nothing indicated that there was a popup trying to get you to install Travel Maps so what you said was false. It is for Additional Content, which most users want.

And, you simply click on "Don't show this message again" the first time it shows up and it won't show up again, will it? Why is that so hard for you to do?

I remember now why I had put you on my blacklist a long time ago.

I do not have Magix Travel Maps. Never wanted them. Have no personal use for them. I do not get notifications asking me to download it.

I think you have to be very careful when you set either of the Magix video editors up and don't just close any popups without first checking to see if the programs can be stopped from loading on startup of the program. If that is too late to do, try searching for and uninstalling "Magix Connect" or "Update Notifier" from the system.

Try the Update notifier first.

Ok sure. 👍

Un-ticking the boxes (to clearly indicate that you do not want to install those things) does not prevent this pop-up box from still continuing to pop-up regardless;
As Magix seem unable to take no for an answer :: And so instead will keep pressuring & pestering you relentlessly via this pop-up box.

Accordingly therefore, the most effective solution to get that spammy pop-up box to go away
=
Just tick all the boxes, and so install all then delete the shortcut icon for Travel Map off your computer.

(Don't fully uninstall travel maps, or else the pop-up will start coming back again / But just delete the icon off your desktop, so atleast then you don't have to think about it nor see it)

Travel Maps. I know people who use it, and those that don't. Me? I installed it to see what it could do, and since I do travel videos (like my South African editing friend), he too uses it. Takes up only 187MB on the disk.

It seems that @CubeAce has no problem running the software without it. But I do understand frustration if something keeps popping up, like Magix cookie settings that I've already answered in the past. I personally think it is a great tool for those that travel.

@Apollo89x

You comments do a disservice to the many users of VDL who purchase it to get the "additional content."

Seriously, you obviously don't understand about simply checking the box in the image that I showed. What is the matter with you that you can't simply click on "Don't show this message again" and the click on "Later?" Do that, and the popup doesn't come back. And, you don't have to install any of the additional content and you will not be asked again.

Magix, as a company, have designed their software to constantly display a spammy pop-up box | Every single time you open the program | Encouraging you to download "additional content", including Travel Maps.

False. It is not spammy and Travel Maps is not a "spammy gimmick." Spam is normally used in the context of trying to get you to purchase something. When you purchase VDL, VPX or PhotoStory, it comes with additional content, including Travel Maps.

all the junk & crap that Magix is trying to push onto you

Magix is not trying to push anything on you that you didn't pay for, and as for junk and crap, that is not the opinion shared by most users - those who actually use the program to create their videos. You paid for the additional content. Magix is not trying to get you to purchase something by telling you how to get the additional content. Many, if not most purchasers want the additional content. The additional content is one of the reasons to buy the program in the first place!

The image below is from Magix.com website showing the Feature of VDL. If you don't install the additional content, you won't have these features for which you have paid:

then delete the shortcut icon for Travel Map off your computer.

Travel Maps is a standalone program that can be opened using the shortcut icon that you say to delete, but most users will access it from within VDL/VPX/PhotoStory under Edit, Wizards.

FYI and that of others, a bit of history. There was a time when there was no popup upon first opening of the program showing how to get the additional content. You had to go to Help, and select download the additional content. Many users don't read the manual or the instructions, so they either couldn't find how to get the additional content or even know of its existence. Users would raise tickets or come on this forum and ask how to get the additional content, over and over. Some accused Magix of fraud because they didn't get what they paid for, only to be told how to download and install the additional content.

Not only that, for every new version, you had to download and install the additional content again. The content of 7 to 8GB was put under C:\ProgramData... with separate folders sets for each version. Even if you removed the previous version, the additional content remained unless you deleted it. Why? Because if you use some of the features and content in an older version of the software, then open that project in a newer version to continue editing, the program had to be able to find those features and content. If you deleted them, then you had a problem as the program would tell you that it couldn't find that content. Another problem was multiple repetitions of the additional content filling up scarce space on the C drive.

So, Magix did two things. First, during installation the first time this new feature was introduced, they asked you to select the location where the additional content should be located. You could select a different location or drive - the first time. With any subsequent version, that location is detected during installation and the user cannot change it. Thus, when the popup for additional content shows up and the user opens it, the user sees what content has already been installed with the previous version and doesn't need to install it again. This saves on time having to download the content, saves on hard drive space, and resolves the problem of using features and content not being found from one version to another in a project.

The second thing was the popup that you see in the first image above and don't seem to like. It is there so that users can easily get the additional content right at first start-up. This obviously also resolved the problem of users repeatedly raising tickets and posting on this forum that they didn't get the additional content. However, there are still many who when they can't check the boxes for the additional content on the detail screen, don't see that it shows that the additional content is already installed and understand that they don't need to do it again - then they raise a ticket or post on this forum.

There, I pretty much have the script for a short tutorial.

@CubeAce

Hi Ray,

That you don't use Travel Maps doesn't mean that others don't. I have published two short and simple examples of using Travel Maps, one with an animated object following a route, and the other with an animated line on an image. The background for an animated line can be removed/replaced with a green screen. Think of the possibilities. Do you not ever need an animated line? In your parade videos, do you not ever show the parade route? Events - where they happened, or where you filmed? I have watched some of your videos and I don't have a clue where these places are, so I have to look them up on Google Maps.

Many users make videos of vacations, so they want to show where they went, often not just place.

I use either TM or Vasco da Gama for my trips and walks. Trip to Iran. Flight from Tehran to Khorramabad. Drive to dam site. Drive back across country to Tehran. Walk around Tehran. Photos taken at various places. Do you know where these places are? Without a route map, these places mean little to the viewer.

For you and @Apollo89x, my first example below has more than 4900 views on YouTube, the second, 2800. Seems to me to that there is a lot of interest in a "spammy gimmick." The first example is quite simple and does not show off many of the features available in Travel Maps.

The second example shows an image used as the background with the "route" used to illustrate various things on the image, finishing with just an animated rectangle.

Hi

. . . . tick all the boxes, and so install all then delete the shortcut icon for Travel Map off your computer . . . .

That is a fudge, the correct solution, if you originally installed all the Extra Content, is to uninstall the Travels maps correctly, after that you are not prompted to install again as shown in the video below.
