I am having problems with rendering in Magix edit Pro 2013 jerking and sometime the program stopping.

I normally use about 8 Tracks.

Before rendering the playback is very jerky and stops and starts, drives me mad can't really see what you have created.

I am thinking of upgrading this software to the latest Magix Pro X if this would make a difference.

Is there a big difference between the two Edit Pro 2013 and Magix Pro  X. Is there someone out there who is uisng The larest Magix Pro x who could advize me please it would be helpfull.

If all else fails I even might consider going over to Mac with Final Cut Pro

Hi Michael,

Are you using the "preview rendering" function on MEP?

If you are rendering the entire movie and still it does not play back correctly, try reducing the resolution in the playback monitor to half or quarter.  If you are using .avi or .mov files, those containers may be overwhelming your graphics card or CPU.  Also what are your Video Setting under Program settings?

Finally if you do decide to go with FCP, it is a good product but costs about 3 times as much as MEP and you are going to need to buy a Mac with OSX 10.6.8 or later with a OpenCL-capable graphics card or
Intel HD Graphics 3000 or later.

Nice to hear from you.

Yes I am using the preview rendering button but that's not the problem, when I render the whole film it plays back perfect.

It is before I render that things are jerky and the program sometimes stops, I think it is the way the program is, it just not capable of handling what I want it to do.

Is Magix X4 any better do you know, cause when I look at it on the internet for the money there doesn't seem to be a lot of difference, especcilly the layout of the program.

Hi Michael,

Yes this is pretty much how the program works.  Unless you preview render before playback, or reduce the video resolution in the playback monitor, this is pretty much what you will get.  Just so you know, I have the Corel Video Pro X product and have used the Adobe product as well, and they all do the same thing.  Unless you want to buy a high end Unix workstation and run Avid on it, this is the life of using a windows PC to edit video with effects, titles, etc.  You could also buy a high end Mac and run FCP and get better rendering, but both of those options would cost a small fortune.

ps we just need to learn to live with it until we can afford better hardware and software to REALLY EDIT VIDEO.

Thank you both for your help.

I have also been onto Magix and given them all my computer details and they are telling me it is my graphics card which is old and dated. Iv'e written back to them to ask what they think is a top of the range card or one that runs well with magix.

I must get this right I need to produce some good videos but a lot quicker than I'm doing at the moment, I'll get there.
