I am working with a trial version of MEP 2015.

Is it possible to merge 2 separate projects into a single file without rendering? I would like to retain control of all cuts and effects in both projects. I have a large project (40 min) which I want to break down into about 15 scenes. I was hoping that File/Manage Movies/Attach  would allow me to do this but it does not seem to work. Additional question...what is the difference between an mvp files and an mvd file?I am working with a trial version of MEP 2015.

Hi Jacques,

Yes. See this answer.

The mvp file is a project file that can consist of 1 or more movies. The movies are in the tabs that you see and are used mainly for having separate movies on a DVD, each with chapters. There are other uses.

If you want to export 1 of the movies from a project to use it in another project, then use File, Manage movies, export. This creates an mvd file, which is basically the same as the mvp, except that it contains only 1 movie. Everything is there: objects, effects, titles, transitions, etc.

In another project, you can import it using File, Manage movies, Import. It gets opened as a second movie (on another tab) within the project.

Or, if you want the imported movie to be at the end of the existing movie, set the playback marker to the end of the movie (use End or Fin) and then File, Manage movies, Attach. Everything should be there, objects, effects, titles, transitions, etc. I found that if the playback marker is not at the end of the movie, the imported movie goes to another tab. This is probably what happened to you.

Let me know how it works out.

Thank you! That works!       While it will take a bit more repitition for that to become intuitive for me, you have successfully directed me to new options in this program. It's truly exciting to open new doors.

Glad to have been able to help.

If you decide to buy, get the Plus or Premium version, not the basic, as it has too many limitations.
