I can't rename the page in Xara Photo & Graphic Designer

I use Xara about 20 years and one of the most useable feature for me is the possibility to make multipage pdfs with cross-links. I always used the page names because it was very useable to me and my clients - these names appear in the bookmark's section of Acrobat Reader. The last version of Xara P&G Designer can't rename the pages. The line "Rename Page" disappeared from page context menu, F2 and left-click on the Page name still works - I can edit the page name but the result of the renaming doesn't save. All Pages can have only the names with numbers "1, 2, 3, ..." etc.
Is it a bug or my local malfunction?

I did the following test in DPX, but this should work in XP & GD also.

I create a two page Xara Print Document. I was able to use the The Page & Layer Gallery to rename the pages to “Page 1” and “Page 2” respectively. I saved and reopened. The page names saved to the file correctly.

I then exported the two page Xara document to a PDF file. I went into the advanced options of the PDF export dialogue box.

Under General > Compatibility, I selected “Acrobat Reader 8.0 (PDF1.7)”
Under Document > Reader Display Setup, I selected “Bookmarks Panel and Page”
Under Layers, I made sure that “Generate Bookmarks for each Page” was checked.

Then I hit export. The resultant PDF file opened up in acrobat Pro 9. The bookmark panel was visible and the clickable bookmarks were indeed present.

So I can say that these functions do work in DPX

If you are unable to rename pages, then you might want to drop a note to Magix Support

How do I insert automatic page numbers in a Xara document?

. . . . automatic page numbers in a Xara document . . . .

AFAIK this has to be done manually auto page numbering is not available in Photo & Graphic Designer.

Xara Designer Pro does support auto page numbering.

Do note that Magix no longer carry Xara products, you will have to go to Xara.com if you decide to upgrade.
