I have lost edit function, how do I restore?

kahkahwee wrote on 11/27/2013, 8:23 PM

While working on a film (video) segment I switched from "record" to  "edit" mode.  The screen came up completely black. I save project and closed system. I have repeated the procedure at least three times with other takes and "edit" does not respond.  I'm trying to beat a deadline and need an answer as soon as possible.

I am wokring on a PC with Windows 7  using MAGIX PRO 15.

Thanks

kahlahwee,

You should only need to use the MEP "reccord" function to capture a clip from a DV camera etc. Once the video is on your hard drive you can can bring it into the project timelines either from the 'media pool' section to the right of preview screen, or even by dragging directly from a Windows Explorer window.

Carl

While I greatly appreciate the answers perhaps I mis-communicated.  I have been working on a film project for the past 4 months w/o any problems except  for one or two minor glitches.  I use the record section to import files from my camera. Once they are loaded I have switched to the edit function to create titles, effects, etc.

However, day before yesterday things changed.  When I attempt to load a pre-exisiting file the preview screen comes up. I now have no access to timeline or any other configuration.  I have exhausted exploring all of the toolbars, etc.  I am running out of time and wondering if I should load new software and forget MAGIX completely.

Hi

With the project open try pressing f9 to reset the window arrangement.

If that fails then without loading the project - try resetting the program to its default settings - File, Settings, Reset program settings to default.

Then load the project.

If that fails, with MEP closed,  using Windows Explorer search for the file videodeluxe.ini - include hidden folders in the search options - you will find several files the one you want will be the biggest in filesize - rename it.  MEP will recreate this file on start up - load the project.

If all the above fail try re-installing the software and select the Repair option.

TIP: To speed up your workflow - work out the scenes you need from the camera before you start editing and capture them to the computer.  Then create the project and start editing.

Hi,

I'm still unsure whether this is a specific file in a specific project or all files in all new projects? Nor how exactly you are loading it/them? Is this now in the usual way, from Import (or dragging from a folder), rather than using Record?
