@Pamela-Ayres

Hi. Welcome to the user to user forums.

Yes, they were very closely the same product at the time of release. Slightly more close now with the new versions. Tutorials for Movie Edit Pro (MEP) will be applicable to your program unless there are new tutorials addressing the changes between your version and the latest version. They are at present very few as they relate mainly to using the newer version of the Size /Position plugin.

I don't think my computer specs are necessary for this question.

Correct, unless you run into problems.

Ray.

Thank you. First, I will have to see if I can get Movie Edit Pro to work on my computer. I will be working on that tomorrow. I do appreciate the support I am getting from the community.

Hi

. . . . I don't think my computer specs are necessary for this question. . . . . I will have to see if I can get Movie Edit Pro to work on my computer . . .

Your system specification is going to be very important depending on the type and resolution of the source videos you are going to be working with.

See this topic for the information required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full - I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.

Also bear in mind that the minimum specifications for Movie Edit Pro are just that - they are the minimum that the program will run on, there is no guarantee that it will work smoothly with all source video resolutions and formats, depending on the video resolution the hardware requirements can escalate quickly.

Thank you, johne. I have completed my profile with specs info as well as other info. I also went through the search file to find any information that I can glean. I did not find anything I could use. I am trying very much to stick with Magix/Vegas in a form that is mostly familiar. I will continue to read the postings by the forum and try their suggestions. Again, I appreciate the sense that there is a caring community.

Hi Pamela

Thanks for the computer specs, if you could enter them as text - see my Signature - it would be better - the spec image is difficult to read.

The HP Notebook is capable of running Magix Movie Studio 18, however if the source video resolution you are going to be working with is 4K UHD (3840 x 2160 px) you may find it runs a little slower as the processor only has 2 cores - in this case you may need to use proxy files to enhance the performance - the option for this is in the Project settings.

Proxy files do take up more disc space however the improvements can be significant and once a project is finished the proxy files can be deleted.

Additionally click the lightning symbol bottom right of the Preview monitor, to turn on - it will be blue - to further aid smooth performance.

On the plus side, the Intel HD 620 integrated GPU is capable of encoding/decoding video resolutions up to 4K (4096x2304) px and supports HEVC/h.265
