Important Update Regarding our Product Portfolio

Tom_Sp wrote on 3/31/2026, 6:53 AM

Dear Community Members,

Today, we would like to inform you about a significant strategic decision that sets the course for the future of MAGIX. As part of a realignment of our product portfolio, Boris FX will be taking over the VEGAS, ACID, and Sound Forge product lines.

What does this mean for MAGIX?

This decision is a conscious and vital step. By reducing portfolio complexity, we are creating the necessary space to invest specifically in our core markets and continue to grow there.

From now on, our focus will be entirely on the further development of our core products for creative minds:

  • Video deluxe & Video Pro X
  • Photostory
  • MAGIX Music Maker

The Future of the Community & Updates

We know that many of you have been part of the Magix.info community for years. Therefore, one message is particularly important to us: This platform will continue to exist! Magix.info remains your central hub for exchange, assistance, and creative inspiration.

At the same time, our teams are already working hard on the next product updates. We remain true to our mission: developing powerful and accessible software for video editing and music production that brings your creative visions to life.

Information on the Transition

For all users of VEGAS, ACID, or Sound Forge, we have worked closely with Boris FX to ensure a smooth transition. You can find detailed answers regarding technical questions, subscriptions, and support directly in the Boris FX FAQ.

@Tom_Sp

Hi.

For those of us that have slightly older versions of Vegas (I have Vegas Pro 21), where in future, should we need to, be able to download those products? I ask in case I should need to re-download the program due to a hard drive failure or other incident. I am on an older machine until the current madness of component parts becomes more stable once again and so still on Win 10, so upgrading to a newer version for now doesn't make sense for me.

Magix will continue to have the older versions in your account. In the Magix Vegas forum, there was always a link to download past versions and builds. I don't know if that will continue in the new forum. Everything is being added slowly.

Why cannot I find this post on the Magix forums from the UK?

Vegas Pro 23 is full of bugs. Aren't you going to fix them?

Reyfox wrote on 4/1/2026, 7:41 AM

Who to fix what specifically?

I use VP23 and while the performance (rendering) related to the "Vegas Core" engine hasn't been the equal of VP22, it is still a work in progress. As for other bugs..... don't know? The Vegas development team are now at Boris, not here.

Where I do take issue with the sale of Vegas Creative is that all of "us" who have bought into VP23 can only "upgrade" to VP 2026 at a price.Yes, they are offering upgrade pricing, but it is the "normal" upgrade price from what I've seen so far. Not right, and to me, not fair to the long time users with VP23. I will eventually upgrade, but I can wait until Black Friday when Boris FX has their best pricing. And by them VP24 (or whatever naming it will have) should be out and even more issues fixed. Also, in the past, Boris FX worked on a 1 year cycle for updates. If you buy now, you will get updates for a year from that date. That can also mean a "new" version build.

One thing the sale has done is bring in an infusion of finances to Magix, trimmed more overhead and maybe, just maybe, they can get to work on VDL/VPX and the other products that remain.

@SP. @PATIENT-X @Tom_Sp But the people from the Vegas/Boris Team told users to contact Magix :

https://forum.borisfx.com/t/faq-for-the-transition-from-magix/21160#h-3-technical-support-updates-3

Will there continue to be free patches or bug fixes for older versions?
For versions of Vegas Pro, Sound Forge, and Acid Pro released prior to the 2026 Boris FX versions, any patches, updates, or bug fixes would need to be provided by MAGIX.

Allow me 🙏:

The development team, Vegas team, has migrated fully to Boris FX now, concentrating with Boris FX Vegas Pro 2026, so as I can see it, it's probably challenging now to be able to release patches and fixes for previous VP23.

That's basically Boris FX telling you, that they don't care about previous versions you own and don't support them.

@set We should think from the user's perspective, not from the merchant's. In this incident, no one was considering the interests of VP23 users. Today, the interests of VP23 users are being sacrificed; tomorrow it could be you or any other user.

SP. wrote on 4/2/2026, 10:27 AM

@Nalmcruto Maybe some good news, there are people on the Boris FX forum who wrote that they got a free upgrade from Vegas 23 to Vegas 2026 from the Boris FX support. Check this out here:

I just now got on here on the new BorisFX forum and this was the only way I could figure out how to let you know what happened in our last discussion regarding Vegas Pro 23 vs Vegas Pro 2026… BorisFX was very gracious to me and rolled over my Vegas Pro 23 to the Vegas Pro 2026 since I already paid for Vegas Pro 23 from Magix. I have downloaded the new Vegas Pro 2026 and am trying it out. Everyone has been so helpful including the support at BorisFX. However, if it were not for you telling me about Vegas Pro 2026 I would have never known and about the merge over. Thank you SO MUCH for helping me along with the other kind gentlemen who helped too. Thanks again!!

There are two upgrade options. You can upgrade to the new 2026 pro or the 2026 pro plus version.
The pro upgrade is 143.95 USD and the pro plus upgrade is 199.95 USD.

Those aren't eggs for me.😁

It's like a "ball of confusion" with pricing, upgrades, etc.. in the Boris forum. But, you can chat and have answers really quick. Some have been cross grade to 2026, and they are working on the subscription side of things.

I personally think that those who bought VP23 and have suffered since September with only one update, should have gotten a really deep discount price. Call it "good faith".
