Importing all videos not in native resolution is just black screen.

Magix movide edit pro plus 18.0.2.235

Using videos captured in radeon relive, it works fine when i import videos from my native 1440p. but when its 1080p its just a black screen. And only this program see's it as black screen. Getting pretty frustrated with this program.

Try it with VLC app..then look into the codec advance button ,for another size and try a small sample again ..

When using MEP import and set up the project for the native resolution of the video clips only unless you want to convert them to 1080p. If that is the case that you want ot change the clips to 1080p then set the project up for 1080p and import clips. At which point when importing clips, you have the choice to import them at 1440 which will put black bars at the top and bottom of each clip, or choose not to and lose some of the side edges. I would copy such clips into MEP rather than import them directly.

I already setup the project to have the same settings as the video i want to use.

Has nothing to do with blackbars appearing. the video editor things the entire video is black. which it isnt.

Hi

Without more information we would be guessing what the issue is.

Use MediaInfo to analyse one of the clips that will not import, copy the results from the Text view and post them here.

Your computer specification as detailed in this topic may also help.

A sample of the video, about 10 secs long, would also be useful for us to test with, upload it to a file sharing site such as Dropbox, not Youtube, Vimeo or in the forum as these will convert the video file - we need the original.

Hi

Thanks for the information.

I think the issue is caused by the video being variable framerate, as shown in this section of the MediaInfo analysis:

Frame rate mode                          : Variable
Frame rate                               : 60.000 FPS
Minimum frame rate                       : 30.007 FPS
Maximum frame rate                       : 62.774 FPS

Movie Edit Pro does not handle variable framerate video well.

Try running the video through a video converter to change the framerate to Constant - several members here, including myself, use the MovAvi video converter (paid for), there are others available some free.

. . . . . My computer is a NUC8i7HVK . . . .

With which processor?

Looks like that is the culprit. The working footage is this
Frame rate mode                          : Variable
Frame rate                               : 30.000 FPS
Minimum frame rate                       : 29.952 FPS
Maximum frame rate                       : 30.007 FPS

I would prefer to not add in an extra hour of encoding before i make a video. Would Magix Vegas handle this easier? I used to use Sony Vegas years ago and I remember it being pretty robust being able to handle whatever you throw at it.

The NUC8i7HVK has only one processor type and that is the 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8809G

Edit: i ran the file through handbrake at a set rate and it worked just fine.
