Importing an object shifts all my tracks

I just recently come across a problem I've never had before: Whenever I import a file (photo or video) into my project, it shifts all the other objects in my project to the right - leaving an empty spot (above/below) where I place my imported file. It doesn't matter where I import it - either an empty track, or an occupied track with enough room for the file. The only way I am getting around this is by locking all the other tracks - which seems unnecessary - I've never had to do this before. I switched to another project, and the same thing happens - so it's got to be some global issue. Something I hit by accident? Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

You have likely switched the import mode to Single or Multi-track ripple. Switch back to automatic which will allow you to drag onto the timeline without moving anything. Shortcut 1 .

I am working in MEP 2019 - I have shortcut 6, 7, and 8. I currently (and by default) work with #6 - Mouse Mode for Single Objects. I don't see any "automatic". I opened a new project - just to see if the project were the problem - and I still get the same result.

Oooops....found it. Yes - you were right. I had it set on Multi-Track Ripple. Wow....I must have hit that by mistake. Thank you very much. Made my day!

It's easy enough to do. Been there, done that.

The import shortcuts are 1 through 5.
