importing iphone video picture is blank

Taildragger7W wrote on 4/15/2020, 7:59 PM

I am using Movie Edit Pro 15 Plus. Windows 10 version 1909 OS Build 18363.778 I updated my graphics card to the latest software, Intell 5500.

I was using this software and all was well. My computer crashed last fall, I had the hard drive replaced with a solid state, and now when I try to import my iphone 11 Pro videos, (MOV), the imported file contains only sound and a white video with nothing on it.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled this software several times, and nothing seems to help.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

New phones will quite often now record video using a variable frame rate to safe on memory space and most editors can't handle it. Look in the settings of your phone and change the recording settings to a constant frame rate for future use. For now, you will have to convert the existing video to a constant frame rate for MEP to be able to handle it. Just because a video is recorded in certain file format does not mean backwards compatibility with other equipment that is older. Even the new version of MEP cannot handle these types of files. I don't know of a video editor that does so far. There is free software on the net that can change the frame rate of your files for you.

One such program is called handbrake but there are others.

Hi Lorraine

We need more information, otherwise we are guessing at what the issue is, please read this topic and come back with:

  1. the specification of your computer:

  2. . . . . Movie Edit Pro 15 Plus . . . .

The version number as found under Help, About?

  3. A MediaInfo analysis of one of the MOV files

  4. The recording format settings from your iPhone

In parallel with providing the info John listed, if you can upload an example MOV to Dropbox or similar (so that it is not compressed or converted), I’ll try it here. I use an iPhone 6S+ and have had no problems with MOVs in any of several MEPP versions, so that test might narrow the isolation process. Alternatively use the private message feature to establish contact and then email it to me.

Hi,

iPHONE generate new kind of video file HEVC and image file HEIC most software are not able to open it you must download from Microsoft store a special CODEC. Now if you have last version of any software like Pinnacle or Filmora you have problem. Pinnacle open HEVC vidéo but cannot open HEIC image file for Filmora that is the inverse cannot open video but open image. Probably is something for Magix.

Yes, iPhone generate the HEVC video but you can turn on compatibility mode before you transfer it to your PC.

Also, my Magix is up-selling the HEVC codec to me when I try to play such a file, even as Win10 already installed a codec and play it in the Win10 video player.

Casual home video editing just for FUN since MEP 5.5.4.1 (2006??)

That is my case the video player play HEVC and HEIC file, also paint open HEIC file. I use Paint 3D to create jpg from HEIC work nice.
