Importing MP4 cannot be read? Movie edit pro 15

"The file format of
E:\DCIM\100GOPRO\GOPRO004.MP4
Cannot be read!

Please make sure that the drive is not full or
write_protected.

If you do not have the authorization to write or read from }
this path, please contact the administrator."

I have tried starting Magix movie edit pro 15 in administrator, but no luck. I think I might need to login or somthing to the program, but nothing in the online tab seems to work. even the "Unlocking, Activation, Registration service" in Online login details.

I have also purchesed the MP4 export and have used it before many months ago. I hopped on again not long ago and this problem came up and never went away.

I'm at a loss for looking it up. Anyone with what works?

thanks!

I think the reason for the problem with this file MAY be because it originated with a GoPro camera, according to the file details you give.  From posts on other forums it appears that GoPro files are produced in a proprietary format that only GoPro software can properly read.

Did you receive any software with your camera, or can it be downloaded from the internet?  If so, does it allow you to convert the file to a format which MEP can read?  If not, can a general-purpose convertor like SUPER or Handbrake do the necessary conversion for you?

One other thing to be aware of is that "mp4" is a container format.  The actual files within that container CAN be of various formats.

Further to what emmrecs says, do you mean MEP 15 or 2015? I doubt that the GoPro files will work with version 15. If you meant 2015, then please use that always to avoid confusion.

There are other posts in about GoPro files. Did you do a search for Gopro?

Further (again) to what I wrote before and to which John added:  the file path you quoted strongly suggests the files are actually still on your camera, I think.

Try copying the files to your computer hard drive first before you attempt to open them in MEP.

However, as John says, if you are using MEP 15, rather than MEP 2015, your chances of being able to do anything with these files is pretty small.
